On Monday and Tuesday, June 26/27, the PBR Ontario staff travelled to Cortland, New York, to participate in the New York State Games. The event took place at the Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex, PBR New York's main hub, which features four fully-turfed fields.

The event featured roughly 400 players from New York over four days, along with the a team of 13 players representing PBR Ontario for the first session. There was roughly 40 college coaches from the NorthEast in attendance, including several Division I programs in New York.

Ontario's team featured uncommitted players from the 2025 - 2027 classes and included several players top-ranked prospects from their respective classes. Below, we begin break it all down with scouting notes and video on six standouts from the event.

Ty Wilson SS / RHP / Catholic Central , ON / 2025

2025 SS/RHP Ty Wilson (London Badgers) stood out during the New York State Games, running an impressive 6.56 (60-yard) which was the second-fastest recorded at the New York State Games’ first session. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound two-way player has made major improvements at the dish, consistently making hard-contact in-game while showing bat-to-ball skills. He picked up multiple hits in each game at the event, highlighted by a homerun in his first at-bat. Wilson also worked a quality inning on the mound, locating all parts of the zone with his fastball, while also flashing a breaking ball. The London product showed the ability to pound the zone and generated plenty of ground balls. On a loaded Canadian infield, Wilson displayed some of the best actions and instincts with agile movements and plenty of confidence on the left-side of the diamond. Impressive showing from the uncommitted 2025 who was the most productive player for the Canadian team.

Nathan Kaczmarek RHP / 3B / Maxwell Heights , ON / 2025

Kaczmarek put together a quality two days in Cortland, flashing upside on both sides of the ball. His physicality jumps out at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds and the two-way drew plenty of attention as an aggressive right-handed hitter with bat speed. The Team Ontario product put together quality at-bats on Tuesday, including an impressive two-run homer to the pull side and is a dangerous stick when he gets extended. Looks the part at the hot corner with his frame, actions and arm strength. He took the mound in game two and was efficient over four innings. Kaczmarek continues to add strength, and will be a 2025 to keep tabs on as he matures.

Robert Omidi SS / 3B / St. Martin Secondary , ON / 2027

2027 INF Robert Omidi was one of the main attractions on Canada’s NY State Games roster as he prepares for the Future Games next month. One of the youngest players at the event and physically fit in with his 6-foot, 180-pound frame, while flashing some of the louder tools among Canadians during the showcase. The left-handed bat is what immediately jumps out and his 89.1mph avg. exit velocity ranked fifth in the event among roughly 200 players in attendance. It wasn’t the strongest round of BP we’ve seen from Omidi but he still produced a peak exit velocity of 93.2mph with consistent hard contact which shows just how valuable his bat can be. The bat was quiet during game one but it didn’t faze him as he found the barrel twice in game two for a pair of hard-line drives, going for a single and a double. One of the most advanced 2027s we’ve seen so far across the country and continues to be one of the top producers on the field each time we see him.

Jamie Mercer SS / 2B / Holy Trinity Catholic, ON / 2025

Mercer’s athleticism has been on display every time we’ve seen him and it was no different at State Games. Nimble mover at 5-foot-9, 150-pounds and makes fielding his position look easy with quick footwork and loose actions. Also showed value offensively, getting on-base and creating havoc on the basepaths all day long. It seemed every time we looked, Mercer was touching home plate again. Quick hands from the right-side of the plate that generate line drives to all fields, with plenty of room to add strength going forward. One of the sharper middle infielders in Ontario’s 2025 class.

Jackson Feggi RHP / OF / Eastview Secondary School , ON / 2026

2026 RHP/OF Jackson Feggi (Barrie Baycats) continues to improve his game every time we see him play. The fastball sat 77-80 T81.6 and generated good spin on the pitch at times with 2300+ rpm’s. He was able to locate his fastball to all parts of the zone and the curveball complimented the pitch well, sitting 67-71 with 2400+ spin. Feggi also flashed a good arm in the outfield with accurate throws to all bases, working up 81mph. He has a lean, athletic frame at 6-foot, 155-pounds and still has room to grow. Consistent, all-around player with plenty of room to continue trending upwards.

DJ Mazzaferro SS / RHP / USS, ON / 2026

While it may not have been the best we’ve seen from Mazzaferro this year, his athleticism and overall actions on the diamond continue to stand out each time we see him. He moves well in all areas of his game with arm strength that translates to the mound. The Ontario Prospects product worked one inning on the mound with a fastball that sat 79-82mph and coupled it with a breaking ball at 65-68. He was heavy on the fastball during the outing and was efficient, despite working deep into counts. The right-handed bat has some adjustments to make as he begins to take more AB’s against higher-velocity arms but there’s looseness in the swing and consistently puts up quality at-bats. All the tools and abilities are there for Mazzaferro and he really has a chance to pop when it all comes together.
