PBR Spring Training got underway this morning from Panama City Beach Sports Complex in beautiful Panama City Beach, Florida.

We have 13 teams on hand for our second PBR Spring Training and had over 250 players on field for our Scout Day which included batting practice, defensive work and 60s. We also had our state-of-the-art technology on hand throughout the day with TrackMan and Blast Motion.

Our scouting staff got a look at well over 200 Canadian positional players this afternoon from Coast to Coast and we begin breaking it all down below.

Stay tuned all week long as we bring you nightly recaps of the players who jumped out to our staff.

Caden Reed SS / 3B / Brooklin, ON / 2022

Uncommitted 2022 Caden Reed of the Titans easily had the loudest round of batting practice on Field 5. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound shortstop flashed his juice from the left-side, leaving the yard once and reaching the warning track several times with a top exit velocity of 97 mph. Not only does he have size and strength but he also runs a sub 6.80. He closed out a really good overall day showing his arm strength across the diamond at 82 mph. Reed will be sure to draw plenty of interest from college coaches going forward and is one of the top uncommitted 2022s in the province.

Maddox Shaver SS / RHP / Eastside Secondary School, ON / 2023

Maddox Shaver recently reclassified to a 2023 and is a player our staff was eager to get another look at. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound shortstop’s bat is what usually catches your eye first but today it was his defensive work. He was moving well side to side, fielding balls cleanly out front and the arm was live across the diamond, getting up to 84 mph on a cold night. He ran a 7.04 60-time and put together a good round from the right-side, showing the ability to hit line drives and also lift for power at times. Top exit velocity on the day was 92.3 mph.

Wyatt Slocum RHP / OF / Keswick , ON / 2022

2022 Garrett College commit was another Titans player to show well at Scout Day, displaying his strength throughout the day from his 6-foot-3,  205-pound frame. There was some thump from the right-side during his batting practice but he impressed most in the outfield where he was up to 82 mph later in the evening in cold temperatures. The arm looked good out there tonight and with Slocum being a two-way guy, it will be interesting to see him take the mound this week. Can’t forget to mention he also ran a 7.01 60-time.

Ethan Service SS / OF / Maxwell Heights, ON / 2024

Ethan Service is a name that impressed our staff this past fall at the Oshawa Legionnaires Scout Day and did so again on the infield today. His athletic movements are evident in all areas of his game and he started his day by running a 6.97. He fielded balls well at shortstop today and was no doubt one of the best looking 2024s on the day from the Oshawa squad. At 5-foot-7, 130 pounds, there’s still so much room for his game to grow and blossom.

Cameron Macleod C / 1B / Argyle, BC / 2023

MacLeod had himself a day at PBR Spring Training Scout Day. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound catcher showcased a smooth right handed swing with consistent barrels. Macleod made consistent hard contact to the big part of the ball field with some pop to the poolside. Behind the dish, he made consistent throws on the right side of the bag and was a steady 2.10-2.14 with a 76 mph velo. MacLeod is one of the top uncommitted ‘23 catchers in the country and we look forward to seeing him perform throughout the week.

Calvin Warrillow OF / SS / Greenwood College, ON / 2023

Warrillow, a William & Mary commit, continued to impress at the Spring Training Scout Day. Standing 6-foot-3. 180-pounds, Warrillow ran a quick 6.76 in the 60. In the box, Warrillow used the whole ball park as he worked gap to gap with hard hit line drives. Near the end of his round he turned it loose and showed flashes of pull side pop. In the field, Warrillow moved well and fielded the ball cleanly, throwing up to 83 mph from the OF. Warrillow looks to be one of the standout bats we have here in Panama City, look for him to make some noise this week.

Liam Lewis SS / 2B / Bishop Macdonell, ON / 2024

Lewis, 5-foot-11, 155-pounds, swung it well at the dish. Crushed balls on the middle half, and took pitches on the outside the other way. Has a hit tool that will play at the next level. Lewis flew in the 60 running a 6.61. He showed good actions in the field and moved well, finishing with a 74 mph INF velo. Lewis has feel for the game and is an interesting prospect in the ‘24 class.

Mitchell Noseworthy 1B / 3B / Gonzaga , NL / 2023

2023 corner infielder Mitchell Noseworthy was an Atlantic representative our staff was looking forward to seeing this week and he didn’t disappoint on Day One. It’s the left-handed bat that jumps out and the body looks better since we saw him in the fall. He was consistently hitting balls to the big part of the park and made some noise during his round of BP. He proved there’s some juice and feel for the barrel today so it will be interesting to see if that translates into game play this week.

Aidan George 3B / OF / CASS, ON / 2025

George, 6-foot, 180-pounds, put on a show at the dish. The young LHH one hopped the wall several times to the pull side. Power potential is there if he continues to add muscle. In the 60, George ran an impressive 6.91. In the infield, he was up to 80 mph across the diamond. There's potential in the ‘25 grad, we will look for him to continue to improve his game.

Chazz Grossington 2B / SS / Silverthorn Collegiate, ON / 2024

Grossington, 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, was a standout fielder at the Spring Training Scout Day. Grossington showcases soft hands and good defensive actions. We kept an eye on him throughout BP at 3rd base and he made it look easy making tough plays to his back hand multiple times. Grossington moves well and we are excited to see what kind of plays he can make in-game this week in Panama City Beach.
