PBR Canada has piloted a new project this fall, covering fall trips for a few programs around the province. The third and final final trip our staff embarked on was the Team Ontario Fall Trip, making stops at Western Kentucky University (NCAA DI), Marian University (NAIA), Indiana Wesleyan University (NAIA) and a two-day tournament at Grand Park in Indianapolis.
One of our staff members was on-hand collecting video, updating our social channels and scouting the upperclass players in Team Ontario's program. Below, we break down seven of the standout players from the back half of Team Ontario's Fall Trip.
2023 SS Evan Gunn: Gunn was the most advanced hitter at the dish during the Team O Fall Trip showing elite bat speed from the left side. He doesn’t get cheated at the plate, swinging with intent to do damage on every pitch. A mix of power/speed in the box showed in-game when he hit a rocket double to the corner in RF, following it up by beating out a hard hit ground ball to the first basemen. The strong, athletic frame looks right in the box and in the field. One of the top uncommitted 2023 bats in the province, Gunn continued to show his up-side this weekend.

2023 1B J.P. Tibbits: Tibbits was one of the better hitters throughout the week, showing he can hold his own against college arms. A physical 6-foot-3, 225-pounds hitter from the left-side, he showed feel for the barrel that plays to all fields. He also had multiple extra-base hights against high-velo arms and was a quality middle of the order bat the whole trip. Tibbits is an unsigned left-handed bat that showed well throughout the week.

2023 LHP/OF Matt Marsh (Niagara commit): Marsh showed some impressive stuff during his two outings during the Team O Fall Trip. He used the FB almost exclusively early in counts that and was attacking the zone, getting swing/miss and getting ahead consistently. The tight SL was effective keeping hitters off balance, living down in the zone and on the outside corner to righty’s, front-door on lefties. The Niagara commit works with a quick, up-tempo delivery and wastes no time on the mound. Marsh also showed the ability to handle the bat, taking a high and outside FB to the LCF gap for a triple.

2023 LHP Robert Watters: Watters was one of the better arms during the Fall Trip. Standing 5-foot-11, 160-pounds, Watters attacks hitters with his FB/SL combo from a ¾ sot. He sat 78-80, living on the edges of the plate with the fastball that induced soft contact. His slider was his go-to out pitch that generated some strikeouts and uncomfortable swings. Watters is an unsigned senior to keep on your radar.

2023 SS/RHP Finn Walker: Walker was a standout on the mound at Marian University. Looks right on the mound with a long and lean 6-foot-3, 170-pounds, he showed feel to spin the CB in a hitters counts for swing/miss. The FB had some life out of the hand that seemed to blow by hitters, playing well off the CB. Walker is another unsigned senior that would be an easy pick-up for a college program.

2023 C/OF Eric Del Fatti: Del Fatti, 5-foot-10, 150-pounds, was a force at the top of the lineup for Team O during their tournament at Grand Park. Present bat-on-ball skills showed in-game with a simple line-drive approach that works to all fields. Del Fatti seemed like he was always on base and showed some sneaky pop with a triple to the LCF wall.

2024 LHP Vincent Bouchard Wright: Bouchard Wright was one of the standout arms with multiple strong outings for the LHP. Athletic down the mound with a fluid, effortless delivery. He showed good command of the FB that had ASR and feel for his off-speed pitches. He works quickly and with conviction. It will be an interesting off-season for him as he continues to get stronger. Bouchard Wright is a pitcher to have on your radar.
