By Greg Williams
PA/WV Director of Scouting

West Virginia and head coach Randy Mazey have announced the signing of 12 players to National Letters of Intent, including two standouts from Pennsylvania.  The Mountaineers went 27-27 in 2015, including a 9-13 mark in the rugged Big 12 Conference.

2016 PENNSYLVANIA EARLY COMMITS

Patrick FergusonPatrick Ferguson, 1B, Pittsburgh Central Catholic
PBR Rank: #34 in PA
PBR Notes:
Ferguson is one of the top left-handed power bats in the state. Starting from an open, narrow stance with good pre-swing rhythm, he takes a controlled stride, has a feel for generating loft in his swing, and has shown over-the-fence pop with wood. Ferguson earned first-team all-section honors for Pittsburgh Central Catholic in each of the past two years.

Isaiah KearnsIsaiah Kearns, RHP/3B, Mifflin County
PBR Rank: #5 in PA. #113 in PBR combined Class of 2016 rankings
PBR Notes:
Talented two-way prospect that sits 87-89 while touching as high as 92 mph off the bump. Has shown solid power as a right-handed hitter and athletic actions defensively. Kearns was a third team AAA all-state selection in 2014 as a sophomore.
