2018 Preseason All-State Showcase Analysis: Class of 2021 Two-way Players

94 prospects showcased their abilities over the two days of the 2018 Preseason All-State Showcase. 
Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at two-way players in the Class of 2021. 

While this group was represented by just five current freshman the potential for this group is very high. Each of the players in this group will be players to watch moving forward and several will likely receive early interest from college coaches.

Remaining Class of 2021 Two-way Players (in alphabetical order)

Andrew MuracoAndrew Muraco, 2021, SS/RHP, Franklin Regional
5-foot-9, 165-pound left-handed hitter continues to make improvements offensively. Starting from a square stance, Muraco had quieted his lower half now utilizing a heel-raise stride to initiate his swing. Displayed the ability to back spin the baseball while barreling everything in a solid round of batting practice. Registered a bat exit velocity of 85 mph and showed and ability to drive both gaps. Ran a 7.33 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions defensively with 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. Showed solid range, an ability to play through the baseball, and the ability to make throws from multiple arm angles. The right-hander sat 78-79 from a high 3/4 arm slot with some arm side run to his fastball. Curveball shows 10/4 rotation at 67-68 and changeup is thrown with good sell at 72-74.

Ben ChaseBen Chase, 2021, SS/RHP, Octorara
5-foot-11, 145-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance utilizes a controlled leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Stays behind the baseball well and shows the ability to create back spin. Registered a 76 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.42 60-yard dash. Showcased a soft glove hand and developing skills as a middle infielder with accurate 70 mph arm strength across the diamond. The right-hander sat 76-79 on the mound with sink and run to his fastball out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Balanced repeatable mechanics with a chance for significant velocity spikes as his frame fills out. Curveball showed sweeping 10/4 action at 61-65 changeup was thrown at fastball arm speed with cut at 69-71.

Braedon KarpathiosBraedon Karpathios, 2021, LHP/OF, Lampeter-Strasburg
5-foot-9, 196-pound primary pitcher sat sat 79-80 from a 3/4 arm slot with a balanced, fluid delivery. The lefty showed two-plane break on his curveball with 1/7 shape at 64-67 and command of a changeup thrown at fastball arm speed at 72-73. The left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. He displayed good rhythm and a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 7.54 60-yard dash and flashed athletic defensive actions with 78 mph arm strength out of the same 3/4 arm slot.

Bobby MarshBobby Marsh, 2021, 1B/LHP, Bellefonte Area
Physically advanced 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame. Left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased above average balance and a fluid, easy swing that resulted in consistent barrels. The potential for future power is obvious as his young frame continues to fill out and there is more intent in his lower half. Ran a 7.42 60-yard dash and showed capable actions around the bag at first base with 78 mph arm strength across the diamond. The lefty sat 76-78 from a high 3/4 arm slot with some cut to his 4-seam fastball. The 2-seamer sat 75-77 with arm side run. Changeup is thrown with good sell at 68-70. Curveball rolls out of the hand with 2/8 shape at 65-67. Mechanics are balanced, easy and repeatable. Significant velocity gains are likely moving forward.

Carter WelchCarter Welch, 2021, LHP/OF, Allentown Central Catholic
Physically advanced 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame. Primary pitcher sat 77-79 from a high 3/4 arm slot  with a high knee stack and some arm side run to his fastball. Long, loose arm action is far from max effort. Curveball sat 58-61 with sweeping 2/8 shape. Changeup is thrown at fastball arm speed with some cut action at 62-66. Left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a balance swing with a feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash and showcased the ability to routinely play through the baseball defensively with 81 mph arm strength from his outfield position.
