Aiello Making His Mark on the National Scene

                                  Johnny Aiello

Johnny Aiello has quite the resume for a high school baseball player. The Germantown Academy sophomore was named to the 20-man roster for USA Baseball's Under-15 National Team after a five-day trial period in North Carolina this past summer. In 2011, he earned a spot on USA Baseball's Under-14 National Team that competed in the Pan Am Games Venezuela. Aiello was the only player on the team from Pennsylvania.

Aiello, who started for the Patriots in 2012 and earned second team all-league honors, was rewarded for his stellar freshman season by being named to the Carpenter Cup Inter-Ac team and the 2012 MaxPreps Freshman All-American Baseball Team.

Aiello has added three inches and twenty pounds to his frame in the past two years. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound shortstop, has been clocked at 87mph from the mound. Aiello is currently the ranked No. 4 in the Class of 2015.

With all of his accomplishments and proven abilities it would be easy to assume that Aiello must be the premier player in his class in the state of Pennsylvania. While that could be debated two other shortstops join Aiello in the upper echelon of players in the class. Kyle Datres, a 6-foot, 175-pound SS/RHP from Loyalsock Township HS is a gifted three-sport athlete who has touched 89mph from the mound. Add in Travis Blankenhorn, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound SS/RHP from Pottsville HS and the Pennsylvania Class of 2015 is loaded with high end shortstops.
