Daily Roundup: March 23 Games

Weather continued to be an obstacle on Saturday for high school baseball teams across the state but a number of high profile games were played with the top two teams in the state bringing home wins. Following is a recap of some of the games played statewide on the second day of the PIAA baseball season.

#1 LaSalle College HS  7  Haverford School  4

  • Explorers use multiple home runs to come from behind. Complete scouting notes and game recap in separate article.

#2 Malvern Prep  10  Garnet Valley  3

  • Chris Butera led the Friars with four RBI and a solid performance on the mound. GV managed just two hits off of Butera, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Pennsbury  4  Central Bucks East  2

  • Rhode Island commit Brandon Garrett recorded the win for Pennsbury. He went the distance allowing two runs. He struck out eight, walked three and surrendered five hits.

FranciaBelle Vernon 10  Uniontown  0

  • A steal of home by Parker Lynn, an RBI double by Dom Francia, an RBI double by Joe Simsic and an RBI single by Jake Hartman in the first inning supplied the early offense for BV.
    Lynn had two extra-base hits for the Leopards. He doubled in the first and second innings. Adam Ferita went the distance giving up just two hits.

Central Dauphin  3  Cedar Crest 1

  • Connor Anderson went 2-for-4 and CD scored two 7th inning runs to earn the victory. CD pitchers limited the CC offense to one hit.

Ephrata  14  Daniel Boone 7

  • Ephrata erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to earn the victory. The Mounts were led by Brandon Miller (2 triples, 3 RBI) and Josh Gehman (2-for-2, two runs scored).

Chartiers Valley  8  Thomas Jefferson  2

  • A day after opening the season with a commanding win TJ dropped a decision to Chartiers Valley. Colton Booher went 2-for-2 for TJ with a double.
