Elite Prospect Showcase Preview: 3B Connor Hood

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Connor HoodThe 2014 Elite Prospect Showcase will take place on November 1 and promises to bring together many of the top prospects in the Class of 2016, 2017 & 2018 as well as a few talented unsigned seniors. Last year's inaugural event was highly successful with 18 players going on to make college commitments to date. Among those in attendance last year, 2016 OF J.J. Bleday (Titusville) was one of the standouts. The two-way prospect went on to make a commitment to Vanderbilt shortly after the completion of the event and was named this fall to the final USA Baseball 59 man roster for the 2015 18-and-under National Team Trials.

The 2014 version of this event is just two weeks away and the roster is filling quickly. Over the coming weeks we will preview those on the roster as well as those that are added prior to the registration deadline on October 26.

3B Connor Hood, susquenannock (2016)

Hood impressed at the 2013 Elite Prospect Showcase and two additional PBR events in the past year. The 6-foot, 170-pound junior, currently ranked No. 11 in the PA Class of 2016, earned an invitation to participate for Team Pennsylvania in the PBR Future Games last summer but was unable to attend. Hood is a talented right-handed hitter that runs a 6.91 60-yard dash. He has shown fluid actions at 3B with good range and the ability to make plays on the move with an 85 mph arm across the diamond. Hood hits from a balanced, athletic base with a high hands load and has flashed a top bat exit velocity of 88 mph.
