Fall Measurables and Evaluation Showcase: Outfield Analysis

The Fall Measurables & Evaluation Showcase took place on November 2nd at Keystone State Baseball Academy giving our staff a final look this fall at prospects from three states. Today we continue a series of articles analyzing the prospects in attendance with a look at those players that participated as primary outfielders.

Outfield Analysis

Jake Awenowicz, Norwin HS, OF/RHP, 2022
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide, square stance and utilizes a heel-raise stride to initiate his swing. Displayed balance throughout with a feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 76 mph and ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Played through the baseball routinely with developing 72 mph arm strength from the outfield defensively. The righty also sat 76-78 with short arm-side run on the mound from a high 3/4 arm slot. Showcased a simple, balanced delivery. Curveball sat 65-68 with 11/5 rotation and a slider with shorter break sat 70-73.

Richard Beggy, Central HS (Philadelphia), OF, 2021
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Showed balance throughout with an ability to get to extension while creating backspin. Registered a bat exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 6.89 60-yard dash. Showcased fluid, athletic actions defensively with straight line carry on throws of 83 mph from the outfield.

Braden Collazo, Lebanon HS, OF/LHP, 2022
5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Displayed a high finish while routinely staying behind the baseball. Registered a bat exit velocity of 82 mph and ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. Showcased accurate 74 mph arm strength from the outfield and the ability to play through the baseball. The lefty sat 79-80 off the mound from a 3/4 arm slot with some arm-side run to his fastball. Displayed a feel for spin on a curveball with slider shape at 67-71. Changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 74-77.

Ryan Garvey, Spring-Ford HS, OF, 2022
5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing from a deep load position with a toe-tap stride. Displayed a flat barrel path with some length to his swing. Registered a bat exit velocity of 76 mph and ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Showcased capable defensive actions with accurate 75 mph arm strength from the outfield.

Joe Perna, Hammonton HS (NJ), OF, 2021
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing from a high hands load. Displayed a feel for the barrel with a middle of the field approach. Registered a bat exit velocity of 79 mph and ran a 7.88 60-yard dash. Showcased fundamentally sound defensive actions with solid carry on throws of 81 mph from the outfield.

Paul Morgan, Bonner Prendergast HS, OF, 2021
5-foot-10, 165-pound right handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a direct swing path with balance throughout and a line drive approach. Registered a bat exit velocity of 81 mph and ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Showcased raw, athletic defensive actions with accurate 64 mph arm strength from the outfield.
