NeiderhiserBishop McCort junior lefty Nathan Neiderheiser came in as the pitcher overshadowed in a great pitching matchup on Thursday night under the lights at Point Stadium. After the game, he earned the respect of Somerset’s deep and talented lineup in a 5-1 win over the Golden Eagles.

Somerset’s ace and VCU recruit Ian Stiffler was on the mound in front of a handful of MLB scouts. McCort struck first with two runs in the 2nd inning. Cameron Rock’s sacrifice fly brought in a run to get McCort on the board. McCort added an additional run when they pulled off a double steal with two outs.

Somerset (13-3) answered with a run in the 3rd with a Ross Dirienzo sacrifice fly to deep right field, but was unable to manufacture much offense from that point on. Brad Coleman's RBI single and Rock's two-run single closed out the scoring for McCort.

Neiderheiser got the complete game victory, allowing only three hits and three walks with one earned run. The lefty struck out six and threw 93 pitches in the impressive outing to avenge his team’s 4-2 loss to Somerset on April 5th.
