Ben DumSomething had to give in a Tuesday afternoon match-up between a pair of one loss teams in the PA Class AAA Super 16 rankings.  West Perry (10-1) hosted East Pennsboro (7-2) with both team's aces taking the hill.  Ben Dum, No. 13 in the PA Class of 2015, locked up in a pitchers duel against Connor Yoder, No. 2 in the PA Class of 2016, and neither would disappoint.

East Pennsboro was unable to get a runner into scoring position until the 5th inning when Zach Wertz singled up the middle and then executed a perfect delayed steal.  Dum (top right) would work out of the minor jam by getting a strikeout and ground out to end the inning.  West Perry wasn't able to get anything going offensively either as Yoder didn't allow a hit over his five innings of work.

Connor YoderWith Yoder's pitch count starting to rise he was replaced by junior lefty Drew Miller for the bottom of the sixth.  The Mustangs took advantage of Yoder being out with back-to-back singles to lead off the inning.  After a strikeout, Brendon Bussom stepped up in the game's most crucial at-bat.  Bussom had gone down on strikes in his first two at-bats but delivered in the clutch with an RBI single.

Dum made the 1-0 lead stand up in the seventh as he struck out the side to finish the complete game shutout. The VCU recruit finished the game with 11 strikeouts allowing 4 hits while not walking a batter.

Yoder (bottom right), a Virginia Tech commit, struggled some with his command during his five innings of work finishing the night with a seven strikeout, seven walk, zero hits effort.

West Perry will return to action Thursday as they travel to take on Trinity.  East Pennsboro's next game is also on Thursday as they will host Milton Hershey.
