Cordell ShannonIn a game that paired two highly touted young pitchers, 2015 LHP Cordell Shannon and his Greyhound teammates got the best of 2016 RHP Myles Gayman and the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils.

Both pitchers went the distance and gave their teams an opportunity to win, but it was Shippensburg's solid defense and a number of outs on the base paths by Blue Devils runners that led to the Greyhounds victory.

Shannon stranded a runner at 2B in the 1st and 6th innings and the Blue Devils were Myles Gaymanthrown out attempting to stretch singles into doubles in the 3rd and 4th innings. Conversely, Shippensburg scored a run in the first on a walk, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI groundout by Shannon. The Greyhounds recorded four of their seven hits off of Gayman in the 3rd and 4th innings to score three more times.

2015 SS Nate Reiner led Shippensburg offensively going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Gayman led the Greencastle-Antrim attack with a 2-for-3 night, including a double and two RBI.

Shannon allowed seven hits while striking out five. Gayman allowed six hits and struck out five.

+ Shannon has inherited the ace role on the Greyhounds' pitching staff after the graduation of 2013 LHP Travis Ott, a 7th round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves last June.
