St. Joseph's Prep 5, La salle 2

A stellar outing from junior left-handed pitcher Colin Scanlon (6 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 13 K) and a four-run bottom of the fifth propelled the reigning District XII class 4A Hawks to the Philadelphia Catholic League win. Mixing his fastball and quality breaking ball, Scanlon was dominant from the start, striking out the side in the first and recording multiple strikeouts in an inning five times.

Andrew CiarloneSt. Joseph's Prep opened the scoring in the bottom of the second with a two-out, bases-empty rally from the bottom of the order, as a walk and hit-by-pitch preceded a run-scoring single from sophomore catcher Logan Kellerman. La Salle answered right back on a sacrifice fly from their own sophomore catcher, Andrew Cossetti (St. Joseph's U commit). The Explorers would briefly take the lead in the top of the fifth when senior third baseman Andrew Ciarlone (left) tripled and the scored on a sacrifice fly from junior second baseman Michael Landry.

Gianni AriciThe Hawks quickly regained their advantage on RBI singles from junior designated hitter Jeff Manto (Villanova commit) and sophomore second baseman Phil O'Connor, who both scored on a double from sophomore shortstop Gianni Arici (right). Scanlon posted one more shutout frame before giving way to junior right-handed pitcher Pat Woltemate (1 IP, 2 K), who nailed down the save.
