La Salle 5, Neumann-Goretti 0

Senior right-handed pitcher Joe Peluso carved up the revamped line-up of the 2015 Philadelphia Catholic League runner-up as La Salle stayed tied atop the PCL standings with defending champ Archbishop Wood at 4-0 in league play. Peluso (6 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 5 K) never faced more than four hitters in an inning while effectively mixing three pitches to generate weak contact.

Situational hitting was a hallmark of the Explorers offense on this day, as three of their runs scored on sacrifice flies, while a fourth came on a sharp single through a drawn-in infield by senior first baseman Kyle Hemcher. The other tally came on a double to deep right-center by junior outfielder Gregg Sywulak.

Brian VerrattiWest Chester-bound outfielder Brian Verratti (right), who finished 2-3 with two line drive singles, was the only Saint to solve Peluso. Seven of the nine La Salle starters logged at least one base hit, with Sywulak, St. Joseph's-bound sophomore catcher Andrew Cossetti, and junior designated hitter Zach Moretski banging out doubles.
