Game Recaps: Parkland/Whitehall & Nazareth/Northampton

By Jacob Gill
Philadelphia Region Director of Scouting

Parkland 4, Whitehall 0

In his return from a minor back injury, Shippensburg-bound RHP Gabe Mosser (CG, 7 H, 2 BB, 10 K) pitched the Trojans to a one-game lead over the Zephyrs in the LVC North. Penn-bound Chris Rabasco (3-3, 2B, 2 RBI) drove in Parkland's first two runs, one each in the first and fifth innings, while 2015 OF Jeff Strisovsky and 2014 DH Hudson Rabenold added RBI knocks of their own in the seventh.

Whitehall's best scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the sixth inning. With no outs and runners on first and second. 2014 1B Matthew Melosky smoked a one-hopper back up the middle, but 2014 2B Alex Flynn made a backhand stab and flip to SS Rabasco, who threw to first base to complete the double-play.

2015 RHP Jake Meyers (CG, 8 H, 3 BB, 5 K) pitched well for Whitehall, while also going 2-3 with a double. 2014 3B Tyler Bridgwood and 2014 SS Jeff Charles also posted multi-hit games for the Zephs.

Northampton Area 5, Nazareth Area 2

2014 RHP Joey Wittreich (CG, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K) was in control from the get-go, as Northampton Area took home the win in the LVC North. A four-run third inning, capped by a 2-RBI double from 2014 OF Jaden Daubert, gave the Konkrete Kids a lead they would never relinquish. Nazareth Area cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth inning on a couple of unearned runs, but Wittreich recorded a strikeout with the bases loaded to quell the rally.

2016 C Ian Luberti and 2014 1B Matt Durich recorded multi-hit games for the Konkrete Kids, while 2015 Harley Davidson reached base via walk in all three of his plate appearances.  2014 DH Brett Hallman (3-4, RBI) was the only Blue Eagle to solve Wittreich.
