Team Pennsylvania carried two catchers on its roster at the 2014 PBR Future Games. Following is an analysis and highlights of both prospect's performances during the course of their trip to Indiana this past week.
catchers:
C/OF Kenny Bergmann (William Penn Charter), 2016
Bergmann flashed his ability to play multiple defensive positions with an 89 mph arm from the outfield. The primary catcher was one of the most impressive prospects at the event during scout day activities and barreled the baseball all weekend in game action. Bergmann showcased pop times of 1.90-2.02 on throws of 77 mph from the crouch. The 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitter registered a 91 mph bat exit velocity and displayed a short stroke to the baseball that produced consistent line drives during his round of batting practice.
C/3B Adam Celidonia (Montour HS), 2016
Celidonia flashed an impressive 91 mph bat exit velocity from the left side of the plate and displayed the ability to drive both gaps during batting practice. The 6-foot, 185-pound junior opened game action with a 1-for-3 performance against Team Kansas. Celidonia showcased pop times of 2.11-2.19 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch while also showing a soft glove hand and the ability to handle duties at 3B if called upon.
