PBR Future Games Recap: Team PA Middle Infielders

Team Pennsylvania carried four middle infielders on its roster at the 2014 PBR Future Games. Following is an analysis and highlights of each prospect's performance during the course of their trip to Indiana this past week.


Middle Infielders:


SS/RHP Matt Gorman (William Penn Charter), 2017

Matt GormanThe lone member of the Class of 2017 to participate on the Team Pennsylvania roster, Gorman showcased the two way abilities that earned him a roster spot. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound sophomore showcased a 79 mph infield arm and an 86 mph bat exit velocity. Gorman was especially impressive on the mound topping at 85 mph and commanding a tight breaking 73 mph curveball. The righty worked two innings yielding one hit while striking out two.

SS/2B Corbin Kessler (Seneca Valley HS), 2016

Corbin KesslerKessler registered the top 60-yard dash among members of the Team Pennsylvania roster at 6.92. The 6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitter showcased an 87 mph bat exit velocity and went 1-for-2 at the plate against Team Missouri on the final day of the event. Kessler displayed his athleticism by playing both middle infield positions as well as the outfield in game play. He will give college coaches options as to how they choose to utilize his athleticism and foot speed at the next level.

SS/RHP John Matthews (Punxsutawney HS), 2016

John MatthewsMatthews showed well in all facets of the game showing why he is currently ranked No. 9 in the PA Class of 2016. The 6-foot, 160-pound SS/RHP ran a 7.20 60-yard dash and showcased an 84 mph arm across the diamond while making a number of plays look routine in game action. Matthews flashed an 88 mph bat exit velocity and went 2-for-4 with two walks at the plate over the course of three games. The righty topped at 85 mph on the mound and caught many scout's eyes with his drop down slider and fastball that at times had hitters baffled.

SS/2B Matt Tarabek (Hempfield Area HS), 2016

Matt TarabekTarabek flashed one of the top infield arms at the event at 88 mph across the diamond. The 6-foot, 170-pound middle infielder showcased the ability to play the ball on the move and made plays from several arm angles during the course of the event. Tarabek showcased a 91 mph bat exit velocity and displayed the ability to drive both gaps during his round of batting practice on scout day.
