By Jacob Gill
Pennsylvania Assistant Director of Scouting

The 2016 PBR Pennsylvania Preseason All-State Showcase kicks off one month from yesterday. Once the dust settles on the event, initial invitations will be sent out to prospects in the 2018 and 2019 classes to compete for Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games powered by Under Armour in August. In the second of three articles that will take a look at team members from the summers of 2012-2014, today offers tidbits about the situations in which some of the now-freshmen find themselves.

One adage holds that winning programs breed winning players. In that vein, ten of the fifteen prospects from Pennsylvania reached at least the district portion of their post-season tournament in 2015.

In Dum's freshman season this spring, the Rams could have a tough time topping last year's Atlantic-10 tournament and NCAA Regional championships that had the squad just two wins away from the College World Series.

Falso joins a Bobcats program that won the Mid-American Conference tournament, Higgins is now a member of a Sun Devils group that earned an at-large berth to NCAA Regionals, and Malloy will don the uniform for the defending Patriot League champion Mountain Hawks.

Baggett, Churma, and Kuczala will butt heads in the rugged Pennsylvania State Athletic Confernce, one of the top Division II leagues in the country.

Barron and Minnick will team up again, this time for a Camels program that has averaged 40-plus wins over the past four seasons.

Wilegus was initially committed to East Carolina, but an injury and coaching change caused him to reopen his process and ultimately land at UMBC, where he joins 2012 Team PA member Jamie Switalski, who earned 1st-team all-America East and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honors last year.
