Pbr mid-atlantic border Battle:
middle infield analysis

top prospects

Liam Bendo2017 SS/2B Liam Bendo (Garnet Valley HS)

Bendo shined in game play showing the skill set that has him ranked No. 5 in the initial PA Class of 2017 rankings. The left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and uses a toe tap load with a strong lower half to create barrel whip. Bendo went 4-for-11 in game play while hitting a number of other balls on the nose. The sophomore ran a 7.22 60-yard dash flashed an above average 82 mph arm across the infield. Bendo showed good feet defensively while consistently playing through the baseball.

Jimmy Farrow2016 SS/2B Jimmy Farrow (Avon Grove HS)

Farrow went 5-for-11 in game play over four games. The right handed-hitter showed good rhythm to his swing from a slightly open stance. Farrow barreled the baseball consistently in batting practice and showed an aggressive approach during game play. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound middle infielder displayed an 80 mph arm across the diamond and registered an 84 mph bat exit velocity. Farrow ran a 7.14 60-yard dash and made all the plays in game action. He will need to continue to work on his fluidity to remain on the left side of the infield.

Tristan Kevitch2015 SS/2B Tristan Kevitch (Harriton HS)

Kevitch is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound uncommitted senior that continues to grow physically. The 6.78 runner went 2-for-10 in game play while displaying a short swing path from a square stance. Kevitch uses the middle of the field well and registered and 83 mph bat exit velocity. He showed the ability to play the baseball on the move and a big enough arm at 84 mph to remain on the left side of the infield. Kevitch should see further physical development as his athletic frame fills out.

Michael Kuypers2015 2B/RHP Michael Kuypers (Central Bucks South)

The jury is still out on whether Kuypers is a pitcher first, position player second or the other way around. What is not difficult to determine is that he can do both well. Kuypers sat 84-86 with solid 72 mph breaking curveball out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Kuypers registered six strikeouts in three innings of work on day one, showing an easy tempo to his delivery and the potential for added velocity. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound uncommitted senior 3-for-10 at the plate in game play and registered an 86 mph bat exit velocity. Kuypers has a soft glove hand and the arm strength (83 mph) to potentially make the move to 3B.

The right-handed hitter went 3-for-9 with two doubles in game play while registering an 85 mph bat exit velocity. Virbitsky showcased an 82 mph arm across the diamond and a bit of a long arm throwing motion. While his size may force a move from shortstop his development on the mound will be interesting to watch. Virbitsky sat 77-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot during two scoreless innings of work. He commanded a 69 mph curveball thrown with good arm speed and showed a 72 mph changeup that also has potential.
