The final WPIAL Championship game will be contested this evening at 7:00pm at Consol Energy Park. The AAA final will be pit No. 1 ranked Blackhawk and Belle Vernon.

Blackhawk enters tonight's championship game having won two 1-0 games in the playoffs.  They rely heavily on the one-two pitching tandem of sophomore Brendan McKay and senior Adam Rousseau. McKay leads the team in hitting at .414 with Ohio State recruit Matt Emge close behind at .409.

Belle Vernon will counter with a potent offense that averages almost seven runs per game. They are led by Adam Ferita (.435) and Joe Simsic (.414). BV defeated Beaver 4-3, Mars 7-1 and Hopewell 9-8 to reach the title game.

Blackhawk last won a WPIAL Championship in 2004. Belle Vernon is seeking its first ever title.
