A total of 34 outfielders showcased their abilities on Day One of the Preseason All-State Showcase. In Part One of our evaluations we will take a look at half of the group, with the remaining 17 prospects to be reviewed in Part Two.

PBR Plus: Standout Outfielders

Kyle Miller, Pope John Paul II, Class of 2015
Miller is a 5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitter that runs well (4.09 home-to-1B). He displayed a line drive approach at the plate from a square stance with a high hands load. He barreled the baseball frequently with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Miller showed the ability to play the baseball on the move with an 81 mph arm from the outfield.

Joseph Mione, Bishop McDevitt HS, Class of 2016
Mione is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound sophomore that showcased a well rounded skill set. He registered a 4.21 home-to-1B time and fluid actions in the outfield with accurate throws of 81 mph to home plate. The right-handed hitter starts from an open stance with a high elbow load. He demonstrated the ability to barrel the baseball frequently with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph.

Mason Nadeau, North Penn HS, Class of 2016
Nadeau showed fluid actions in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-10, 155-pound left-handed hitter showed balance throughout his swing with a flat bat path. He barreled the baseball routinely and demonstrated the ability to use all fields with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Nadeau registered a 4.06 home-to-1B time and athleticism in the outfield. He will need to continue to work to strengthen his arm strength (74 mph to home plate).

Nick Newman, Cardinal O'Hara HS, Class of 2015
Newman showcased the top bat exit velocity of the event at 97 mph. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitter incorporates a high hands load from a square stance. Newman has excellent extension to his swing and the baseball explodes of his bat head when squared. The junior registered a 4.49 home-to-1B time and showed limited arm strength defensively with throws of 75 mph from the outfield.

Jake Pacheco, Emmaus HS, Class of 2014
Pacheco is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound unsigned senior that showed athleticism at multiple positions. He showcased an 87 mph arm with a fluid ball transfer and good straight line carry from the outfield. Pacheco ran a 4.35 home-to-1B and showed a line drive approach at the plate. The right-handed hitter barreled the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph.

Jimmy Pisani, Ridley HS, Class of 2015
Pisani had a solid showing in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound junior registered a 4.13 home-to-1B time and displayed an accurate 76 mph arm from the outfield. The left-handed hitter displayed the ability to used all fields with a short swing path during his round of batting practice. Pisani hits from a slightly closed stance and exhibited quick hands with a bat exit velocity of 79 mph.

Aidan Plants, Montoursville HS, Class of 2016
Plants is a 5-foot-7, 170-pound sophomore with a solid frame. He registered a 4.65 home-to-1B time and showed an accurate 76 mph arm from the outfield. Plants turned in a solid round of batting practice with an 87 mph bat exit velocity. The right-handed hitter showed good balance to his swing from a square stance with a high hands load. Plants does not stride, but does incorporate a strong hip turn to create barrel whip.

Aaron Previsky, California Area HS, Class of 2015
Previsky had a solid showing in all facets of the game. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect has an athletic frame with room to still fill out. He showcased his athleticism with a 4.06 home-to-1B time and fluid actions in the outfield. Previsky displayed the ability to play the ball on the move with a clean transition and accurate throws of 82 mph. The right-handed hitter utilizes a toe tap trigger from a slightly closed stance and displayed balance throughout his swing. Previsky barreled the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 88 mph.

Franklin Ramirez, Berks Catholic HS, Class of 2015
Ramirez has a solid frame at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds and showed athleticism in the outfield with accurate throws of 80 mph to home plate. The right-handed hitter utilizes a leg lift trigger from a square stance to create a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. He showed some pop in his bat when he squared the baseball but at times struggled to get his stride foot down in time to allow his quick hands to work efficiently.

Luke Smeltz, Penn-Trafford HS, Class of 2015
Smeltz impressed with an event best 91 mph arm from the outfield. The athletic 6-foot, 170-pound junior registered a solid 4.09 home-to-1B time and barreled the baseball routinely from the right hand side of the plate. Smeltz hits from a square stance and creates significant barrel whip with a balanced, fluid swing and loose hands. He showcased an 83 mph bat exit velocity and good rhythm throughout his swing.

Gabe Smith, William Penn Charter HS, Class of 2015
Smith impressed as a two-way talent with a 4.09 home-to-1B time and fluid actions in the outfield. Smith displayed solid carry on throws of 88 mph to home plate. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound junior showed solid pop in his bat from the right side of the plate. Smith starts from a square stance and shows good balance throughout his swing. He barreled the baseball consistently with signs of gap power and a 94 mph bat exit velocity.

Jake Sniegocki, McDowell HS, Class of 2016
Sniegocki is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitter that showcased an 89 mph bat exit velocity from a square stance. He incorporates a lift and replace stride foot with a strong lower half to create barrel whip. Sniegocki registered a 4.09 home-to-1B time and displayed an accurate 79 mph arm from the outfield.

Matthew Taylor, South Western HS, Class of 2015
Taylor displayed a line drive approach at the plate with a bat exit velocity of 73 mph. The left-handed hitter showed the ability to use all fields from a square stance with no stride. Taylor registered a 4.08 home-to-1B time and flashed athletic actions in the outfield. The right handed thrower showcased good carry on throws of 84 mph to home plate.

Tyler Wansack, Sharpsville HS, Class of 2015
Wansack showcased a well rounded skill set with a 4.01 home-to-1B time and a solid 80 mph throwing arm from the outfield. The 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a toe tap trigger in creating a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. Wansack showed some gap power and the ability to drive the baseball to all fields.

Jake Wapinsky, Fleetwood Area HS, Class of 2016
Wapinsky registered a 4.29 home-to-1B time and showed a very solid arm from the outfield with throws of 87 mph to home plate. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter has a fluid swing that he initiates from a slightly open stance. Wapinsky displayed the ability to barrel the baseball consistently with a flat bat path and a bat exit velocity of 82 mph.

Charlie Warden, Ephrata HS, Class of 2016
Warden is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound sophomore that starts from a square stance with a high hands load. The right-handed hitter displayed the ability to square the baseball frequently with solid barrel whip and a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Warden moves very well for a prospect his size (4.05 home-to-1B) and showcased an accurate 80 mph throwing arm from the outfield.

Gabe Witmer, Twin Valley HS, Class of 2015
Witmer impressed with his athleticism and a well-rounded skills set. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound junior registered an quick 4.01 home-to-1B time and showed fluid actions defensively with an accurate 81 mph arm. Witmer hits from a square stance with a quiet, balanced swing that allowed him to barrel the baseball consistently to all fields. He demonstrated the ability to stay inside the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph.
