2016 3B/RHP Dante' Vaniel (McKeesport HS) recently displayed his abilities at the Shenandoah Valley College Prospect Showcase in Romney, WV. The 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilized a lift and replace stride foot to barrel most baseballs during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 71 mph.
The junior displayed a soft glove hand and the ability to play through the baseball with a 75 mph arm across the diamond. Vaniel sat 74-75 with cut action to his 4-seam fastball off the mound. The righty also throws a 2-seam fastball at the same velocity that displayed arm side run. Vaniel's 67 mph curveball had slurve action and was commanded for strikes.
Vaniel has a projectable frame and exhibited athletic actions on the day. He will need to continue to build arm strength and become more physical in his actions to continue to progress towards his goal of playing at the next level.
