The Buzz: Pittsburgh Lands A Top Freshman

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

Pittsburgh recently picked up a top 2020 in C Cole Houser (Hempfield HS, PA). The 5-foot-9, 155-pound backstop has advanced defensive ability behind the plate with a strong arm, quick feet and clean exchange. Ranked No. 75 in the 2020 Overall Rankings, Houser also exhibits bat speed and feel for the barrel from the right side.

East Carolina is keeping it in the family, getting a verbal commitment from 2019 RHP/SS Zach Agnos (Battlefield HS, VA). He is the younger brother of LHP Jake Agnos, a freshman with the Pirates. The younger Agnos has an athletic frame and throws from a high-3/4 slot with a short, quick arm action. His fastball sits 84-85 with some run and he has a sharp curveball with late 11/5 break at 70-74.

+ Two more players affected by Buffalo dropping its program have found programs for 2018. RHP Alec Tuohy, a redshirt junior, will head to Maryland. Meanwhile, sophomore C Connor Regan will go to Wright State.
