Two Unsigned Seniors Come off the Board



Newman3B/RHP Brett Newman from Council Rock North has committed to Susquehanna University. The No. 65 ranked player in the Class of 2013 tops out at 86 mph from the mound and has an upper 80's arm across the infield. At 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, Newman has a projectable corner infielder's body and has shown the athleticism to be a two-way player at the next level. The left handed hitter has a career average of .477 in high school. Of his 51 career hits, Newman has 20 extra-base hits including six home runs.

WeidmanRHP Darren Weidman from Penn Manor HS has committed to St. Joseph's University. Weidman is a six-foot, 165-pound RHP/IF prospect who has room to add strength to his lanky frame. Weidman pounds the zone with an 83-85 FB, 77-78 CH and a 70-71 CB that shows 11/5 tilt at fastball armspeed. Prior to playing this past summer with Elite Baseball of Lancaster, he posted a 3.41 ERA, 13 BB and 47 K in 45.2 IP for Penn Manor. Weidman also posted respectable offensive numbers hitting .279 with a .380 OBP. Weidman is ranked No. 115 in the Class of 2013.
