Scouting Report

6/14/22

Physical: Thick, durable 6-foot-1, 205lb frame with starter’s projection.

Pitching: RHP. Starts off the middle of the mound; developing pace with some hip-coil at the top of the stack. Extended from short-to-long with a quick H ¾ slot in the arm, attacking early in counts. FB held 83-85 mph with heavy arm-side fade, landing for strikes at a 60% clip. Mixed an advanced 68-70 mph CB that showed two-plane action (1819), adding hard-fading upper-70’s CH to round out the arsenal.

Physical: 6’ 200 lb 3B/RHP ran a 7.59 laser timed 60-yard dash. Thick and strong frame has impressive power and explosiveness.

Offensively: Starts with an athletic base, uses a high leg kick and some hand load to get on time with the pitch. Creates good separation just before firing the barrel into the hitting zone. Barrel path works short and to the ball before finishing high.

Defensively: Plays with a wide base and a low center of gravity, showing the ability to catch balls in front of his body and funnel into his chest. His arm works quick and whippy from a ¾ arm slot.

Pitching: Uses a controlled windup, picking up the intent with the leg lift. He sinks into his rear leg as he rides the mound down to the plate. His body works well together to create good timing on all pitches (FB,CV,SL,CH)

INF - 82 MPH. Pitching: Short side step with a leg lift above the waist before driving out in line to a repeatable, balanced follow through. moderate take away with a whippy arm action to a 3/4 slot. FB: T 84MPH, 80-83 MPH. Good feel for sweeping slider with avg. horz. mov of 15 in and avg down action of 5 in. CH: 76-78 MPH. Straight change; needs to work on keeping FB arm speed and release point.

2/08/20

6-foot, 190-pound primary pitcher sat 81-83 from a 3/4 arm slot with a hook in the back and a side-rocker step to begin. Fastball showed some arm-side run from his two-seam fastball and changeup sat 73-76. Slider sat 66-70 with a tight, short break while command was an issue on this date. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Strong lower half and aggressive hip turn results in ball jumping off the bat with routine backspin. Registered a bat exit velocity of 94 mph and ran a 7.65 60-yard dash. Displayed active feet while playing through the baseball routinely with accurate 81 mph arm strength across the diamond. Definite follow in this class moving forward.
