Scouting Report
6/14/22
Physical: Muscular, athletic 5-foot-9, 160lb frame. 6.95 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, square stance, as the hands started lower pre-set beneath the shoulder. Utilized a leg-hang stride with some weight shift forward, initiating the swing through a flat path into the hitting zone. Worked efficiently during his round, leaving with a 100% sweet spot rate, which was tops at the event. Stayed on a line to the middle of the field flashing short-to-long contact traits at T87 mph exit velocity.
Defensively: The middle infielder featured downward chest angles and clean glove-hand posture over the toes, attacking the ball with pace to match on the throw. Set himself up for advantageous hops and released up to 85 mph positionally.
Pitching: RHP. Momentum-building pace off the left side of the rubber; held 78-80 mph from a strike-throwing operation, H ¾ slot. The FB ranged 78-81 mph with carry, mixing a tight 66-67 mph CB with big depth on an 11/5 tilt.
2/12/22
Physical: Efficient 5-foot-9, 150lb frame with natural feel for his body. 7.29 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Crouched, even stance with a simple-handed start by the shoulder. Utilized short and late stretch in the load to initiate the swing through a physical, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Generated good side bend and lower half connection, giving way to an 87 mph bat-exit velocity and near 300 foot distance (293 feet). Can drive it to the pull-side gap when getting the head out with bat to ball skills present.
Defensively: The primary shortstop displayed active footwork, gaining on the ball and creating quality angles to the target. Made the play on the run effortlessly and showed off range in either direction. Can really pick it in the middle and then goes 81 mph across the diamond from H ¾ slot.
6/15/21
Physical: Lean/developing and athletic 5-foot-7, 140lb frame with some projection left. 7.49 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Wide, even stance with a slight bend in the knees as the hands started high on-time. Utilized a stretched lift and replace stride out towards the target, launching through a slightly uphill path over an immediate backside turn into the hitting zone. Whippy barrel actions and found success to the pull-side of the field behind an admirable 43% line drive rate via Trackman Baseball. Worked his way up to a T83 mph bat-exit velocity pointing towards singles PWR at the moment, adding a 69% on-plane efficiency per Blast Motion (bat to ball skills).
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured quick, rangy actions with a soft, trusted glove hand showing out in front. Funneled inward with a feel for pace, releasing from an immediate trigger at a high ¾ v-slot (79 mph, second base projection). Able to hold his own during plays on the run, throwing from a lower angle with accuracy.
Pitching: RHP - Consistent tempo to the delivery and repeated, working to a high, narrow stack position and down the slope into a blocked off front-side as the upper half drove downward. Released from H ¾ at 74-75 mph on the FB (strikes) adding a 64-67 mph CB with developing shape. Later mixed a 64-66 mph CH out of a similar FB tunnel, thrown with adequate sell.
2/07/21
Physical: Compact 5-foot-6, 130-pound frame. 7.65 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, wide setup with the barrel showing early rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a controlled lift and replace stride giving way to an efficient, slightly uphill path. Generated an easy line drive approach with consistent body positions at impact (55% line drive rate) pointing towards additional feel for the barrel while hitting into a stiff front side. Could go backside if thrown out there and should see a 78 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball increase with additional strength.
Defensively: The primary shortstop showcased solid actions and above-average left foot timing at the fielding window. Fielded off of the inside of his left foot allowing for slightly advanced pace from the left side for his age. Accurate 76 mph arm strength across the diamond.
Pitching: RHP - Traditional tempo on the bump with a side rocker step into a medium leg lift with some hip coil at the top of the stack. Good direction and chest drive downward after footstrike allowing for command of his offerings. FB ranged from 76-77 mph with an interesting IVB profile (21 inches average) from a low release height generating increased ride at the plate. Mixed a sharp 65 mph breaker with feel for spin and countered with a developing 69 mph CH flashing noticeable horizontal movement.
