Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 1B/3B Lou Testa

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Lou Testa is among the top right-handed power bats in the PA Class of 2016, The 6-foot-2, 230-pound first baseman played a major role in Neumann-Goreti's run to the PIAA AA State Finals in 2015 after starting his high school career at Paul VI in New Jersey.

Testa provides a huge target on the bag and an imposing presence in the batter's box. Combining physical strength with good bat speed, the right-handed hitter impressed at the Elite Prospect Showcase last November. Testa's round of batting practice was the talk of the event.

All chit-chat among coaches ceased when Testa began slamming balls off the back net of the facility with a top exit velocity of 97-mph. The imposing right-handed hitter has a high back elbow and rocks back to load, while the ball screams off his bat due to his physical strength and bat speed. Defensively, he fielded the ball a bit deep and would benefit from improved agility around the bag, but showed solid hands and an 80-mph arm.
