Updated PA Class of 2015 Rankings Released

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The updated Class of 2015 rankings have been released in advance of the start of the PBR Winter Schedule of Events beginning in December. Rankings will be updated next in February following the premier event of the winter, the Preseason All-State Showcase.

The PA Class of 2015 is the strongest class of prospects to come through Pennsylvania in some time. To date 21 of the top 47 prospects in the class have announced Division I commitments. The ACC leads the way with 10 early commits from this class.

Fresh off his performances at the WWBA championships in Fort Myers and Jupiter, Florida over the past month, SS John Aiello (Germantown Academy) moves to the top spot in the rankings. Aiello is a switch hitting, 6-foot-2, 195-pound shortstop with a 90 mph arm across the infield. He moves to No. 1 replacing SS/RHP Kyle Datres (Loyalosock Township HS), a North Carolina commit, who is now at No. 2. If you ask a dozen knowledgeable scouts who is better you might get six votes for each. Not only will they spend the next 18 months battling for bragging rights in the PA rankings, but the two will then carry the friendly rivalry to college stadiums in the ACC.

Biggest Movers:

RHP Mike Nikorak, Stroudsburg HS

Nikorak sits in the upper 80's and has recently begun to post some 90+ readings. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound righty has a loose arm and athletic frame. The Alabama commit has made a steady climb towards the top of the rankings and may not be done yet. He currently sits in the No. 8 spot.

RHP Jacob Potock, Shaler Area HS

At 6-foot-5, 225-pounds Potock is impressive physically. He commands his fastball at 85-87 and a quality change-up with considerable arm side run at 72-73. Potock also showed a developing curveball/slider mix at the Elite Prospect Showcase last weekend. The big righty jumps from No. 47 to No. 13 in the latest rankings.

LHP Zach Guth, Franklin HS

Guth had an impressive fall, attending nearly every stop in the Fall College Prospect Program while dominating on the hill for six consecutive weekends. His velocity jumped around a bit with fastball numbers ranging from 83-87. His complimentary pitches are coming and he misses a lot of bats. Guth jumps from No. 51 to No. 18 in today's update.
