Winter Review & Jr. Future Games Trials Analysis: Third Basemen

The Winter Review & Junior Future Games Trials Showcase took place December 30th at Pro Performance RX in Morgantown, WV. Today we continue a series of articles analyzing the prospects in attendance beginning with a look at the third basemen that participated.

THIRD BASEMEN 

Dustin Corley, Parkersburg South HS, Class of 2021

12.30.18 - Defensively, Corley moves his feet well. He displayed soft hands with catching the ball out front of his body and gets his momentum in the direction of his target. He registered a 67 mph positional velocity.

Offensively, he initiates his swing out of a spread stance that is slightly open. He generates good power and torque through the use of his legs. A 78 mph bat exit velocity of registered. Overall, Corley is an intriguing prospect in the 2021 class.  

Nicholas George, Robert C. Byrd, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, the 5-9 180 pound George recorded a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. He hits out of a spread, athletic stance. Has the tenancy to spin off of outside pitches.

Defensively, shows confidence in his feet and arm. Receives ball out front and displays good footwork to first base. A 67 mph positional velocity was recorded. 

Lincoln PackLincoln Pack, Waynesburg Central, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, Pack displayed an advanced skillset. He starts in an open, athletic stance with his hands in a lower slot. Showed ability to consistently drive the ball back through the box. A 79 mph exit velocity was recorded.

Defensively, Pack displayed soft, confident hands along with good footwork towards his target. A 67 mph positional velocity was recorded. 

Lance Whanger, Morgantown, Class of 2023

12.30.18 - Offensively, Whanger starts in an spread, athletic stance. A exit velocity of 70 mph was recorded. He swings mostly with his arms and upper half of his body. Would benefit from using bottom half more. 

Defensively, Whanger moves his feet towards his target. Displays adequate hands. A 56 mph positional velocity was recorded.
