The Arms
Zach Price SS / RHP / Delaware Hayes, OH / 2019Report: Very impressive outing, striking out all five hitters he faced in his 1st inning of work. Goes with a slower paced tempo on the bump to a delivery he repeats. Arm comes through an over the top slot, creating a very downhill plane on his 78-82 mph fastball. Go to secondary offering is the breaking ball. Displays excellent feel for the 11/5 shaped breaker that froze hitters/produced swing/miss all day. Used the heater go get ahead and breaking ball to put away. |
Jared Middendorf LHP / 1B / Fort Loramie, OH / 2019Rankings StateRank: 246 / POS: 24
Report: Unsigned southpaw with upside on the bump. Uses a smooth, consistent tempo to delivery. Compact, clean arm through a near ¾ slot. Delivery requires some effort. Fastball works downhill, showing slight arm side action at times. Sat 78-80 mph in the outing with signs of more to come down the road. Fastball plays up due to length/release point, getting in on hitters hands all day. Primary secondary offering looks to be the changeup. Does a nice job maintaining arm speed on the offering that has some late dip to it at 72-73 mph. Although he looks to be more comfortable with the changeup the slider was pretty good. The pitch is tight with late action across the zone at 70-71 mph. In general, there are some things to clean up but with his frame and current arm strength he will find a home at the next level. Dominated in his outing, striking out his fair share and producing consistent weak contact. |
