IL/WI All-State Games: Catcher Analysis

By Illinois & Wisconsin Staffs

On June 30, the PBR Illinois and Wisconsin teams hosted its select annual event, the All-State Games, at The Rock Complex in Franklin, Wis. This invite-only showcase targets the top uncommitted incoming juniors from both states, while serving as a key identifier in the lead-up to the PBR Future Games.

It is perennially one of the most important showcases on the summer calendar and this year’s roster proved to be a memorable one.

We provided some instant insight in the days following All-State Games inside of our Quick Hits post and Statistical Analysis, both highlighting the top performances from this event.

Today, we’re beginning our position-by-position rollout, starting with the showcase’s catchers. From Wisconsin, Charlie Jarvis (Catholic Memorial) used a stellar showing here to help secure himself a place on Team Wisconsin’s Future Games roster. His strength and athleticism shine through defensively, and he’s consistently improving offensively. Illinois’ Tony Pluta (St. Viator) has tools, including big arm strength that we saw work on the mound this summer, too.

Check out the scouting reports on both of these prospects below, as well as the reports on each of the players who participated at this event – it’s an impressive group, even beyond those ranked. Stay tuned tomorrow for a look into the day’s outfielders.
