Day 2 of the Diamondskills All-American Camp was another impressive day with a large amount of talented players down at Georgetown Prep in their beautiful indoor facility. This week we are going to give reaction both today and tomorrow. With such a large amount of 2021 talent on display at this event, we are going to give that class their own day with another Day 2 recap coming tomorrow for that class only. Today we give you thoughts on some of those in the 2019, 2020, and 2022 class who stood out from Day 2 of the event.

It is important to note that today we do include a few arms from their mound session during the second half of the camp. Being the second weekend of January, arms are just starting to get into shape as they prepare for the spring season. Velocity is only starting to come around as more importantly, pitchers are working on their command, mechanical efficiency, and routine this early in the year. Velo’s aren’t necessarily the end-all-be-all at the moment as they again are working towards the upcoming spring season.

Note: At the conclusion of the All-American Camp, we will have player profiles updated with video and statistics from the event.

Hunter DiCello OF St. John’s 2020
DiCello has a compact frame at 5-foot-6, but shows strength at the plate with an aggressive swing and strong hands. He hits from a balanced set up at the plate, getting into his lower half. He shows fast bat speed at the plate with a level path and nice extension through contact. DiCello shows good speed with a sub-7 60-yard dash and is an interesting talent to see how he could develop.

Alex Elliott RHP River Hill 2020
Elliott has a lanky frame with long arms and projection down the road. He has been working out both as a position player and pitcher, and it looks like he could have an interesting future on the mound at the next level. He has a deliberate, build up style delivery with an average leg kick. He works down to out with his lower half with a free arm action with elbow lift. It’s a pretty easy delivery and creates nice arm speed through release. Should be an interesting one to follow this spring as he develops.

Brennan Ellis OF Quince Orchard 2020
Ellis brings some intrigue to the plate with his offensive potential and strength. He hits from an athletic set up at the plate, with a short and simple stride and load. He has a shorter plath at the plate with some bat speed and a nice barrel through the zone. He gets up hill on his finish, looking to drive the ball to the gap and showed some strength during his BP sessions.

Lukas Geer IF Richard Montgomery 2022
Geer is an intriguing prospect in the 2022 class. Very raw at such an early age, but shows an interesting skill set that looks like he could develop into a nice player down the road. Has a projectable frame and hits from a taller set up, staying rather steep to the baseball. Shorter path and uphill finish with some bat speed in his swing. Again, one to keep an eye on down the road our of Montgomery Co. Maryland.

David Giorgis C West Springfield 2019
Giorgis continues to impress the more we have the opportunity to watch him play and is one of the top available catchers still uncommitted in Virginia. This day showed no different as Giorgis showed nice bat speed at the plate and looks to be in good form heading into the spring. He shows strength at the plate and continued to show an advanced ability to catch and throw with accuracy from behind the dish.

KJ Jarrett OF Long Reach 2019
Jarrett is an interesting senior outfielder at Long Reach high school in Baltimore county. Shows nice athleticism with some quick twitch. Hits from the left side from an athletic set up. Has a long swing path to the baseball and shows some bat speed while getting uphill in his finish.  Jarrett showed nice athleticism during his defensive drills with speed and ability to change direction well.

Connor Leard RHP/OF Glenelg 2020
Leard has a projectable lanky frame and show two way potential down the road. He hits from a slightly open set up, with a rock back load with arm bar to hitting position. His level swing path shows nice bat speed through contact. On the mound he has a long and loose arm action who looks as if he will make a nice increase in velo this upcoming spring.

Brendan Thomas RHP DeMatha Catholic 2022
Thomas has a lanky and projectable frame coming out of DeMatha Catholic. He has a compact delivery with average pace and tempo throughout. He gets average lower half involvement right now, but has the foundation that should be an easier adjustment down the road. The ball came out well with his sound arm action and looks like he could be one to develop down the road. One to keep an eye on coming out of the 2022 class.
