With the holiday season behind us, PBR preseason events have kicked into full gear, and new names are beginning to emerge. With that, On the Hunt, is looking to acknowledge the hard work that these players have put in throughout the winter, and spread their talents across the country. This week, players from Ohio, Texas, and Louisiana show off the strides that they have made including two-way prospects, quick arms, and powerful bats.
Tom Biggs, INF/RHP, West Monroe HS, LA, 2019
Biggs is a legit two-way prospect with a sweet left-handed swing and a powerful, quick right arm. At 5-foot-11, 187-pounds, Biggs is strong and physical in the box with a fluid swing that produces an easy 90 mph exit velocity with hardly any stride. Biggs’ quick hands rip through the zone to produce some pull side power. On the infield, Biggs shows off a very strong arm that registered at 88 mph across the diamond, and solid hands that will allow him to play any second or third base at the next level. However, on the mound is where Biggs will really be peaking recruiter’s interests. Delivering out of a 3/4 arm slot, Biggs utilizes a medium arm swing that leads to quick hand speed through a fastball that sits 86-89, and looks to be going up in the near future. The ball jumps on hitters at the plate with some arm side sink, and he repeats his motion well which allows him to consistently be around the zone. Biggs also flashes a developing curveball that sits 72-75, but looks like it will eventually become a hard slider in the near future. Overall, Biggs’ strong right arm is going to be coveted at the next level, and with his nice stroke, he should have a chance to be a two-way player as well.
