The Buzz: Brandon McIlwain To Enroll Early

The holiday season is typically a slow time in the world of amateur baseball, but big news broke this week when 2016 OF Brandon McIlwain (Council Rock North HS, PA) announced on Twitter that he would enter South Carolina early to play football and baseball.

McIlwain is also a highly rated football prospect as a dual threat quarterback and figured to be a tough sign out of high school anyway with his status on the gridiron. In baseball, McIlwain isn’t just an athlete playing on the diamond. He isn’t as raw as one would expect and held is own against top competition at events like the East Coast Pro Showcase and Area Code Games. The No. 32 prospect on the PBR Draft 100, McIlwain shows the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field and did so against quality pitching all summer. He has quick hands and a sound swing from the right side. He shows plus speed down the line, getting to first base in 4.06 seconds.
