On Tuesday, January 3rd, the PBR Texas Staff traveled to Weatherford College to host the Fort Worth Preseason ID. The event featured prospects of all HS classes from around the state and provided our staff an ample look at every player in attendance.

We continue the analysis from the event with a look at all of the pitchers. We broke down the top-three pitcher on the day followed by the rest of the in attendance.

TOP Pitchers

1. Urim Ibrahimi, Mansfield Legacy, 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/SS Ibrahimi is an athletic 2 way player that shows high upside in the field and on the mound
Body: 6-1, 190-pounds.
Delivery: Clean delivery and mechanics, moves down slope well.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 slot.
FB: T86.4, 85-86 mph. ASR to glove side. Can throw up in the zone as well T2218, 2177 average rpm.
CB: 74-74 mph. in zone and for chase pitch, big break. T2099, 2099 average rpm.
CH: 76-76 mph. Good ASR on the pitch, throws with conviction T1853, 1853 average rpm.

2. Cade Julius, Mansfield Legacy, 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Julius has a good feel for 3 pitches. Big frame with M2C.
Body: 6-4, 195-pounds.
Delivery: Stands tall and loads into lower half on his way down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. taps ball in his glove before working from a low 3/4 slot.
FB: T87.4, 85-87 mph. down in the zone, has some sink when located down. T1952, 1881 average rpm.
SL: 72-75 mph. in zone and for chase, pairs well with his FB. T1979, 1940 average rpm.
CH: 76-79 mph. for strikes and chase. Good movement. Good Arm Speed T1933, 1823 average rpm.

3. Jackson Melanson, Boerne Champion, 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Melanson is a high spin breaking ball guy with feel for 4 pitches.
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Hands over the Head, good rhythm throughout. Good job rotating around front leg
Arm Action: RH. high 3/4
FB: T83.8, 83-84 mph. really sinks it when down in the zone. Tough to square up T2070, 1975 average rpm.
CB: 70-72 mph. Good depth on breaker, throws with intent and has good command of it T2487, 2454 average rpm.
SL: 73-77 mph. The put away pitch for Melanson, as he gets more power in it, has a chance to be a plus pitch T2533, 2305 average rpm.
CH: 79-80 mph. tunnels with the FB, has some arm side movement. T1575, 1454 average rpm.

 

BEST OF THE REST (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Ashton Creighton, Little Elm, 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Creighton is a tall OF with more projection. Needs to continue to get stronger and his numbers will continue to tick up.
Body: 6-4, 165-pounds.
Delivery: simple delivery, hanging leg lift.
Arm Action: RH. works from a high 3/4 slot, closer to over the top.
FB: T82.2, 81-82 mph. Good IVB will allow him to pitch up or down in the zone T2181, 2107 average rpm.
CB: 71-72 mph. more side to side, as it gets more depth the pitch will tick up T1872, 1844 average rpm.
SL: 72-72 mph. down in zone, chase pitch to righties. T1879, 1879 average rpm.
CH: 73-75 mph. Good deception out of the hand. Could tick up with more horizontal movement. Kills the spin T1410, 1352 average rpm.

Dylan Dyer, LD Bell, 2023
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Dylan Dyer works from a high slot, offering 3 pitches highlighted by his high spin curveball.
Body: 6-1, 150-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, stays closed down the slope.
Arm Action: RH. Works from a high over the top slot.
FB: T80.8, 78-81 mph. FB played true, had some sink when down T2098, 1995 average rpm.
CB: 68-69 mph. High spin CB. can land for strikes and get swing and miss out of the zone with it T2772, 2752 average rpm.
CH: 74-76 mph. Same tunnel as FB, throws with good arm action. Has ASR T1876, 1832 average rpm.

Ryan Dyer, Birdville, 2023
Positional Profile: RHP Ryan Dyer shows a good slider paired with a solid fastball. With pitchability and command, can be a solid juco pickup.
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds.
Delivery: Simple delivery, stands tall.
Arm Action: RH. Works from a standard 3/4 slot with a quick arm.
FB: T85.2, 83-85 mph. Good carry on the FB thru the zone T2241, 2148 average rpm.
SL: 75-76 mph. Good horizontal action, good chase pitch out of the zone T2265, 2145 average rpm.

Ian Reid, Southlake Carroll, 2023
Positional Profile: LHP Reid shows feel for 3 pitches to both sides of plate. There is always a high demand for LHP that can pitch.
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Stands tall and has good direction to the plate.
Arm Action: LH. Has small hitch in arm action, works from high 3/4 slot.
FB: T84.7, 83-85 mph. Shows feel for FB to both sides of plate. Has some arm side run. T2051, 1966 average rpm.
SL: 72-75 mph. Good pitch when thrown to gloveside, sometimes doesn't extend all the way. T2358, 2251 average rpm.
CH: 79-79 mph. Pretty straight change, tunnels off FB. T1909, 1818 average rpm.
