KINGWOOD, TX - No. 6 Kingwood hosted district rival Atascocita on Tuesday night to open up district play for both teams.
Kingwood 2020 RHP Masyn Winn (No. 3 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings and No. 15 in 2020 PBR overall rankings, committed to Arkansas) was dominant all night long. He scattered four hits, two walks, and a hit batter in the complete game shutout while striking out 11 batters. Winn mixed his fastball and slider all night long and was able to throw both pitches to both sides of the plate.
Kingwood got the scoring started in the 2nd inning with back-to-back two-out RBI doubles from 2019 1B Grant Evans and 2019 OF Tanner Evans. They plated two more runs in the 3rd and another run in the 4th on an RBI single from 2020 SS Tre Richardson (No. 21 in 2020 PBR Texas rankings and No. 180 in 2020 PBR overall rankings, committed to Houston).
Atascocita 2019 LHP Hudson Luce held Kingwood hitless in the final 2.1 innings with one strikeout. Offensively, Atascocita was led by 2020 3B Brice Matthews with two of the team’s four hits.

Masyn Winn, RHP, Kingwood, 2020
Arkansas commit. 5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic frame with a strong lower half. The right-hander throws from a high ¾ slot with a quick, short arm swing. His fastball was 91-93 mph the entire night, touching 94 mph. Was able to command the fastball to both sides of the plate, especially low in the zone. His slider had 10-4 action and was 74-76 mph, touching 78 mph. Threw the slider to both sides of the plate with the ability to land it in the zone for strikes and bury it in the dirt for swing and misses. Also showed great athleticism fielding his position on the mound.
