VA/DC Unsigned Senior Games: Pitcher Analysis

In early August, PBR VA/DC hosted their fourth annual Unsigned Senior Games at Virginia Sports Complex. Over 60 players from all corners of Virginia took part in the event, and we continue our analysis of those players today with the outfielders.

 

 

 

Brandon Arrowood RHP / 3B / Matoaca, VA / 2020

Arrowood is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and quick, some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are downhill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball 79-83, with some downward plane and late run to armside. Curveball was 64-66 with some armspeed and sharp 12/6 break. True slider was 69-71 with good armspeed and 10/4 break. 

 

 

Caleb Bellisle RHP / 1B / Landstown, VA / 2020

Bellisle is 6-4 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands closed with a fall off finish. Fastball 77-81, with heavy sink and some run to armside. Curveball was 72-74 with good armspeed and late 11/5 break.

 

 

Aaron Bradley LHP / 1B / Stuarts Draft, VA / 2020

Bradley is 5-9 with a strong frame. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with a slight fall off finish. Fastball 69-70, touching 71, with heavy sink and some run to armside. Curveball was 61-66 with good armspeed and gradual 2/8 break. Change-up was 64-65 with good armspeed and sink.

 

 

Nolan Brown RHP / OF / Colonial Forge , VA / 2020

Brown is 6-0 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and quick, some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands open with an athletic finish. Fastball 72-74, touching 75, with heavy sink. Curveball was 62-63 with some armspeed and sharp 12/6 break. Change-up was 64-66 with good armspeed and fade to it.

 

 

Chase Combs SS / RHP / Page County, VA / 2020

Combs is 6-5 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is loose and quick, easy effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands open with a fall off finish. Fastball 80-83, with with late run to armside that also got some depth. Curveball was 68-69 with some armspeed and gradual 10/4 break. 

 

 

Colt Daulton RHP / SS / Dinwiddie, VA / 2020

Daulton is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 78-80, touching 81, with some downward plane and late run to armside. Curveball was 67-68 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. 

 

 

Jared Dingus RHP / OF / Colgan, VA / 2020

Dingus is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are slightly closed and level, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 78-82 with heavy run to armside. Slider was 69-74 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break, good feel for pitch, swing and miss potential. Knuckleball was 72-74 with good armspeed and sharp dive to it. Feel for all three pitches. 

 

 

Drew Early 2B / RHP / Gar-Field, VA / 2020

Early is 5-9 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands open with a slight fall off finish. Fastball 74-77, touching 78, with some late run to armside. Curveball was 58-63 with some armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. Change-up was 64-65 with good armspeed and some fade to it.

 

 

Blake Fisher SS / RHP / Highland, VA / 2020

Fisher is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is loose and quick, some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish and recoil. Fastball 82-84, touching 85, with some late run to armside. Curveball was 62-66 with some armspeed and sharp 10/4 break. Change-up was 68-69 with good armspeed and some fade to it.

 

 

Derek Furr OF / LHP / Westfield, VA / 2020

Furr is 5-10 with a stronger athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball 80-82, with some downward plane and a bit of late run to armside. Curveball was 65-67 with good armspeed and sharp 1/7 break. Change-up was 74-75 with good armspeed and some fade to it. Ability to throw all three for strikes.

 

 

Timothy Gillen 3B / RHP / Lafayette , VA / 2020

Gillen is 6-0 with a strong athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are downhill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 75-79, touching 81, with some late run to armside. Curveball was 66-70 with some armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. Change-up was 67-70 with good armspeed and some fade.

 

 

Coleman Grehawick RHP / OF / West Springfield, VA / 2020

Grehawick is a Marymount commit and is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is loose and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball 77-81, touching 82, with some downward plane and late run to armside. Curveball was 66-69 with good armspeed and hard 10/4 break. Change-up was 70-71 with good armspeed and some fade to it. Ability to throw all three for strikes. 

 

 

Trent Jones OF / RHP / Cape Henry, VA / 2020

Jones is a Hampden-Sydney commit and is 6-2 with a lanky athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a sidearm slot with a long arm action that is loose and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Hinges at waist, shoulders are level and on line, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 77-79, with heavy sink. Curveball was 70-72 with good armspeed and sharp hard 10/4 break. 

 

 

Alex Lepow RHP / First Colonial, VA / 2020

LePow is 5-10 with an athletic frame with a strong lower half. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and uphill, lands square with a fall-off finish. Fastball was 68-72 with some boring action to armside and some sink as well. Curveball was 63-65 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break.

 

 

Nathaniel Mack RHP / 1B / Tabb, VA / 2020

Mack is a Lynchburg commit and is 6-4 with a very lanky frame with a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is loose and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and uphill, lands open with a slight fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 79-83, touching 85 with hard run to armside and some sink. Curveball was 63-65 with some armspeed and sharp 10/4 break. Change-up was 75-76 with good armspeed and some fade to it. Slider was 68-71 with good armspeed and sharp tight 10/4 break.

 

 

Tyler Manchester RHP / 3B / Riverbend, VA / 2020

Manchester is 5-11 with a very lanky frame with a lot of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and uphill, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 73-76, touching 77 with some sink. Curveball was 63-65 with some armspeed and sharp 12/6 break. Change-up was 67-68 with good armspeed and some sink to it. Slider was 66-67 with good armspeed and 11/5 break.

 

 

Colby Neal RHP / 3B / Liberty (Bealton), VA / 2020

Neal is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is loose and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and level, lands open with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 80-83, touching 84, with some downward angle and a bit of late run. Curveball was 63-67 with good armspeed and sharp 12/6 break. Knuckleball was 67-68 with good armspeed and some dive to it. 

 

 

Tommy Portela RHP / 3B / Hickory, VA / 2020

Portela is 5-9 with a strong athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are downhill and on line, lands square with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball 68-73, with some cut to it. Curveball was 52-53 with some armspeed and 11/5 break. 

 

 

Andrew Ramos RHP / OF / Lafayette, VA / 2020

Ramos is a Randolph-Macon commit and is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is loose and very quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball 79-84, with some plane and late run to armside. Curveball was 69-70 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break.  

 

 

Albert Redding RHP / Patriot, VA / 2020

Redding is a Wake Tech CC commit and is 6-6 with a strong frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free and quick, some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and uphill, lands open with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 80-85, with some downward angle and a bit of late run. Curveball was 65-69 with some armspeed and sharp 12/6 break.  

 

 

Brandon Rodgers LHP / 1B / Menchville, VA / 2020

Rodgers is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and level, lands closed with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 81-83, with some sink and a bit of late hard run. Curveball was 68-71 with good armspeed and sharp 2/8 break. Change-up was 73-74 good armspeed.

 

 

Cole Snead RHP / OF / Battlefield, VA / 2020

Snead is a Randolph-Macon commit and is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and level, lands open with a fall off finish. Fastball was 80-82, with some sink and late hard run. Curveball was 67-69 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break. Change-up was 74-77 good armspeed and fade to it. Good feel of all three pitches.

 

 

Wyatt Stanley RHP / 2B / Patrick Henry (Ashland), VA / 2020

Stanley is 6-4 with a lanky frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and level, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 79-83, touching 84, with heavy sink and hard run. Curveball was 65-68 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break. Good combo of pitches that he commands well.

 

 

Joey Thomas LHP / Flint Hill, VA / 2020

Thomas is 6-4 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is free and very quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and level, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 81-85, touching 86, with hard run that gets some depth. Curveball was 67-70 with good armspeed and hard sharp 1/7 break. Change-up was 76-77 with good armspeed and heavy sink.

 

 

Colby Vollmer RHP / RHP / Battlefield, VA / 2020

Vollmer is a Shepherd commit and is 6-4 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is loose and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are closed and level, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-80, touching 81, with hard run and heavy sink. Curveball was 67-70 with some armspeed and late sharp 11/5 break. Change-up was 73-75 with good armspeed and heavy fade.
