Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Kept hands inside, short and quick to the ball with extension through the ball and some whip in his bat. Slightly uphill swing path, line drive swing with natural loft built in with some power in the gaps, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 91. In the outfield, plays through ball, fielding with above average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action and some carry on his throws, outfield velocity was 85. Ran a 6.72 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a sidearm slot with a long arm action that is loose and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Hinges at waist, shoulders are level and on line, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball 77-79, with heavy sink. Curveball was 70-72 with good armspeed and sharp hard 10/4 break.

Jones is 6-2 with a lankier athletic frame that still has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a wide athletic, slightly open stance, minimal stride on line, no load. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Keeps hands inside, very short to the ball, quick bat with extension through it. Showed good approach working gap to gap, swing is slightly uphill, ball jumps off bat in the gaps, exit velocity was 96. In the outfield, rounds ball aggressively and fields with above average hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, outfield velocity was 84. Ran a 6.86 60 yard dash. On the mound, throws from multiple arm slots, with the primary being a three-quarters arm slot with a longer loose, quick arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and slightly closed, lands closed with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball 78-80, touching 82 with some run armside, becomes heavy sink when he lowers his arm slot. Curveball was 66-69 with some armspeed and sharp 11/5 break when thrown up top.

Preseason All-State I

Long athletic frame standing 6-foot-2, 165-pounds. Ran a quick 3.82 Home-1st. Hits from the right side with a slightly crouched wider base. Stance starts open and strides in closed with a small leg lift. Hands load back with rhythm and shows a strong hitting position at touch down. Hands fire through the zone with some strength and quickness, bat path is uphill, uses a high two hand finish, and lower half finishes completely. Exit velo was 87 mph. Works low on approach with active feet, solid glove presentation, and a longer arm action. Has some arm speed throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot with an outfield velocity of 84 mph. Mechanics have some pace starting with a small side step delivery. Gets the lower half going early with shoulders slightly uphill and hips level as he moves towards home. Lands closed at foot strike with an arm recoil on finish. Displayed ability to get on top of a fastball that sat at 80-83 mph. Curveball showed 10/4 breaking action and appeared to have feel for it. Solid arm speed on both offspeed pitches with the curveball sitting at 67-68 and changeup showing some downward action at 73-76 mph.

In the outfield, has speed, fields through the ball with active feet and with above average hands, quick clean exchange. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a quick loose arm, position velocity was 81. Showed versatility taking balls in the infield, position velocity there was 82.

Short to ball with some strength at contact and some whip in his bat as he extends, slightly uphill bat path, line drive swing with pull preference and gap power with a chance to add more, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, good feet, gets behind ball and plays through it into his exchange, quick clean exchange. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a quick loose arm, outfield velocity was 85.
