VA/DC Unsigned Senior Games Pitchers Part 1

On Wednesday, August 10, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its Unsigned Senior Games for members of the Class of 2017 at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. 54 players took part in the event and over a dozen colleges were present, representing NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. Yesterday, we posted the event's statistical leaders. Over the coming weeks, we will break down each player’s performance, here were some of the top statistical performers:

Carson Box, RHP, Atlee
Box is 6-2 and has a strong lower half. He throws from a submarine slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Loose arm action and normal effort. Stride is on line to a square landing with slight fall off finish. Fastball has heavy sink, sat 68-70, touching 71. Slider has sharp sweep and good armspeed, running 61-65. Commands both pitches well.

Bryan Brooks, RHP/1B, New Kent
Brooks is 6-2 and has an athletic frame with a strong lower half. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a long arm action and normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and closed. Fastball sat 72-75 with slight sink. Curveball had 11/5 break, running 60-65.

Justin Cherry, SS/RHP, North Stafford
Cherry has a lanky frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Long, loose arm action that is quick, normal to easy effort. Shoulders uphill and closed as he strides to an open landing. Fastball sat 82-84, touching 85 with late run. Curveball had sharp, late 11/5 break running 71-73. Change-up had good armspeed and sink at 73. Showed good command.

Nate Craner, RHP, Heritage
Craner has a lanky frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, quick arm action generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders are downhill and closed as he strides to a closed landing. Fastball sat 78-80 with hard run. Slider had sharp 10/4 break and good armspeed, running 66-69. Straight change-up had decent armspeed at 66. Splitter had hard late sink and good armspeed, running 73-74. Pretty good feel for his command.

Ryan Daniels, OF/RHP, Kettle Run
Daniels has a lanky frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action that is quick. Lands open with a fall off finish. Fastball sat 73-76 with heavy cut. Curveball had sharp 12/6 action and decent armspeed, 62-65. Change-up had good armspeed and cut, running 71-72.

Bryan Diehr, RHP, Lee-Davis
Diehr has a lankier 6-4 frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Long, loose arm action that is quick with normal effort. Shoulders slightly uphill and closed, lands open with an athletic finish and recoil. Fastball sat 81-82, touched 83, with late run. True 10/4 slider with late bite and good armspeed, ran 74-75. Sharp 11/5 curveball was 71-72. Good armspeed on a running change-up, 72-73. Good command of all four pitches, knows how to pitch.

Christopher Draghia, LHP, Gar-Field
Draghia has a lanky 6-2 frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Loose arm action generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders are slightly uphill and on line, lands open with fall off finish. Fastball had late sink, sitting 76-79. Curveball had good armspeed and 1/7 break, running 61.

Raleigh Duffer, RHP, Randolph-Henry
Duffer has an athletic 6-2 frame that he can still add weight to and throws from an over-the-top slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action is quick with some effort. Shoulders level and closed, landing is square to slightly open and falls off as he finishes. Fastball sat 82-83, touching 84 with late run. Curveball had sharp 11/5 break and good armspeed, running 72-75. Slider had sharp late 11/5 break, running 75-77.

Andrew Fischer, 1B/LHP, West Potomac
Fischer has an athletic 6-0 frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm action with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, free arm action that is quicker and generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders are closed as he strides to a closed landing with a fall-off finish. Fastball had slight run and good angle from his crossfire delivery, sitting 73-76 and touching 77. Sharp curveball with 1/7 break and decent armspeed, running 66-67. Fading change-up with good armspeed was 70-71 and commanded well.

Braydon Floyd, RHP, Stafford
Floyd is 6-3 and has a lanky frame, throwing from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action that is quick and generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders slightly uphill and closed as he strides to an open landing with an athletic finish with slight fall off. Fastball sat 84-85, touching 87 with late run. Sharp 11/5 curveball with good armspeed ran 71-73. Slider had sharp 11/5 break at 72. Very good command of all pitches.
