VA/DC Unsigned Senior Games Pitchers Part 3

On Wednesday, August 10, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its Unsigned Senior Games for members of the Class of 2017 at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. 54 players took part in the event and over a dozen colleges were present, representing NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. Over the coming weeks, we will break down each player’s performance. Earlier this week, we began with the first group of pitchers and continued with the second group, here is the final group of pitchers:

Nathan Rebich, LHP/OF, Spotswood
Rebich is 5-11 and has an athletic frame, throwing from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short arm action with normal effort. Shoulders level and closed, slightly open landing and athletic finish. Fastball had some late run, sat 75-76, touching 77.

Anthony Rini, RHP, Powhatan
Rini is 6-6 and has a lanky frame, throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, free arm action that is quick, generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders closed and level as he strides to a slightly open landing with some fall off and recoil during his finish. Fastball sat 81-82, touching 83 with heavy late run. Pounded the zone with the pitch. Slider was 74-77 with 11/5 break.

Brett Ronyecs, RHP/3B, Robinson
Ronyecs has a lankier 5-10 frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, free arm action that is quick, generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides to a slightly closed landing. Fastball sat 77-78, touching 79 with slight run. Curveball has sharp 11/5 action with decent armspeed, running 64-67.

Logan Sanders, LHP/1B, North Stafford
Sanders has a 6-2 frame with a strong lower half and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action and normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides out, athletic finish with some recoil. Fastball was 76-77 with some angle. 1/7 curveball had decent armspeed, 64-67.

Michael Spence, RHP, United Christian Academy
Spence is 6-2 with a lanky frame, throws from an over the top slot with a drop and drive delivery. Long, quick arm action generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders uphill and closed as strides on line to a square landing with a slight fall off. Fastball sat 82-84 with late sink. 11/5 curveball with late sharp break and good armspeed at 73. Threw one change-up with good armspeed at 78.

Timothy Stephan, RHP/2B, Highland School
Stephan has a lanky 6-0 frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action that is quick and generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders level and closed as strides out to a slightly closed landing with a bit of recoil and fall off on his finish. Fastball sat 83-84 and touched 86 with heavy run. Sharp 11/5 curveball with good armspeed was 71-75. Sinking change-up had decent armspeed at 76-77.

Rob Whitfield, LHP, Atlee
Whitfield has an athletic 5-11 frame and throws from an over the top slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, free arm action generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders uphill and closed with a square landing and athletic finish. Fastball had late sink, sitting 69-71. 12/6 curveball with decent armspeed at 63-65.

Nick Yarrington, 3B/RHP, Tallwood
Yarrington is 5-9 and has a lankier frame, throwing from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short, free arm action generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders are downhill as he strides to an open landing. Fastball had some sink to it, running 73-74. Curveball had sharp 11/5 action and decent armspeed, running 58-60. Fading change-up had decent armspeed, running 58.
