Team Wisconsin closed out the 2016 Future Games with games against Illinois and Indiana dropping both contests.

Game One: Illinois 4 Wisconsin 3

Wisconsin arms were strong again in Game 2 against Team Illinois. Eau Claire Memorial RHP Zach Gustafson set the tone with an easy three up three down first inning, all on the ground. Gustafson finished his two scoreless innings with five of six outs on the ground, living at the bottom of the zone with an 82-84 mph fastball.

Wisconsin jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a big third inning.

In the third Alan Roden (Middleton, 2018) singled and Ben Cameron (Waukesha West, 2018) reached on an error. With one away Jacob Campbell (Janesville Craig, 2018) singled to bring Roden home. Tanner Kohlhepp (Eau Claire Memorial, 2018) came through with the biggest hit of the game when he tripled to right center field to make it 3-0.

Brennan Dolwick (Lake Mills) picked up a pair of scoreless frames as the southpaw ran his fastball up to 86 mph, the best velo we’ve seen from Dolwick.

Cedric Girard (Oregon) and Taylor Jansen (Sun Prairie) finished things out for Wisconsin, both touching 86 mph.

Trailing by a run in the last inning Jarrett Fueger (Waunakee) tripled with two outs but would be stranded there to end the game.

Game Two: Indiana 9 Wisconsin 7

Wisconsin dropped game two to Indiana 9-7. Wisconsin got on the board in the third inning thanks to a two run double off the bat of Connor Manthey (Columbus, 2018) scoring Ian Drays (Jefferson, 2018) and Ty Olejnik (Hamilton Sussex, 2018). Manthey later hit a sacfly to finish the day 1-2 with three RBIs.

Noah Berghammer (Janesville Craig, 2018) had an RBI groundout and Ben Cameron chipped in with a sacrifice Fly.

Max Alba (Franklin), Jack Brown (Eau Claire Memorial), and Bryce Konitzer (Mukwonago) worked scoreless frames on the mound.
