7.7.17 - Creighton commit. 5-foot-11, 185-pound left-handed hitting utility player with a strong frame. Hits in the leadoff spot for GRB. Had a monster tournament hitting .500 (11-22) with ten RBIs and five triples. Roden has an advanced approach at the plate with good feel for the strikezone. Shows the ability to consistently square up pitches. Bat will keep him in the lineup at the next level, has the ability to catch, play a corner outfield spot as well as second base.
1/4/17 - Verbally committed to Creighton.
Future Games 2016 - 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder, solid build. Quiet setup, consistently takes quality at bats. Bat plays well, hits from a balanced stance, short stride. Pull side approach with some pop, bat path is level and stays through the hitting zone. 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Average runner (7.15) but plays up in game, makes great reads both in the outfield and on the bases, gets out of the box well, 4.19 down the line on an infield single, also got a 4.33 down the line previously on a ground out. Excellent route runner, well above average corner outfield defender. Arm played at 82 mph from the outfield.
7/7/16 - 5-foot-11, 175-pound premium left-handed bat in the 2018 class. Simple quiet setup, short stride, short path to the baseball. Barrel aware, hard contact to pull side. Finished 3-3, 1B, 2B, 3B.
3/13/16 - 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitting multi-positional player, offensive minded prospect. Bat should play well, balanced stance, short stride, maintains strong balance. Bat stays in the zone well, made consistent hard contact in BP, shows left handed power in his bat. 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played at 81 mph from the outfield, 75 mph out of the crouch, short over the top arm action. Actions showed best in the outfield, worked through the baseball, projects best at a corner outfield spot. Out of the crouch posted pop times at 2.05-2.12, solid receiver. 7.24 runner in the 60.
9.5.15 - left-handed hitting outfielder and catcher. Offensively, simple, tall setup. Loose, whippy hands, flashed big bat speed for a 2018 prospect from the left side. Smoked a line drive that was caught by the center fielder in his first at-bat. Second at-bat took the second pitch he saw and hit a laser right back up the middle that almost took the pitchers head off. Went up the middle with an infield single that he beat out in his third at-bat. Impressive hitter that uses the middle of the diamond, keeps putting together good at-bats in games, every time we see him. At the 2018 Top Prospect Games held at UIC, Roden hit a home-run during game play.
7.20.15 - 5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitting catcher, solid build with strength, solid lower half. Offensively hits from a tall narrow setup, stride gets into good hitting position, good balance throughout. Pull side approach in BP, showed bat speed, flashed easy pop. Hit home run to pull side in game play, bat will continue to play well. Defensively plays with a short over the top arm behind the plate, 72 mph out of the crouch. Posted pop times at 2.12-2.26 in workout. Also showed better than average abilities at a corner outfield spot in game play. 4.69 runner down the line.
3.1.15 - 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 2.18-2.25 pop times out of the crouch, sets up tall, solid transfer. Firm arm action, 72 mph arm strength, high ¾ slot. Hits from the left side, balanced setup, short stride. Path is flat and level through the zone, solid contact, barreled the baseball. 82 mph exit velocity from the tee. Left-handed bat has upside, should continue to develop.
