On a beautiful day for baseball in April, Eau Claire Memorial ran away with it late to defeat Rice Lake by a final score of 9-3.

The Old Abes got the scoring started right away in the 1st inning with a triple from Tanner Kohlhepp. After a walk to Adam Krajewski, Keagan Calchera doubled down the right field line, just out of the reach of the diving right fielder to plate two.

In the second inning Memorial added to their lead with a 4 run outburst.  The inning began with four straight runners reaching base on three singles and a walk.  After a long at bat by senior Adrian Bethel he found the outfield grass to finish out the scoring in the second with the score being 6-0 Memorial.

Rice Lake wasn't done yet though.  In the 4th, the Warriors put up three runs on four hits and two walks to creep closer and make the score 6-3.  Rice Lake would threaten again in the fifth but that rally would be snuffed out by an inning ending double play induced by Memorial reliever Bethel. Bethel came in for Jack Brown who started and worked four innings. The Old Abes would go on to score 3 more runs on two hits, a walk, and a hit by pitch in the 6th to stretch their lead to 9-3, which would end up being the final score.
