Western Wisconsin Open: Top Prospect List

The Western Wisconsin Open took place on July 14th at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

The 2014 Western Wisconsin Open saw the emergence of 2016 outfielders Zach Gilles and Adam LaRock both of whom are signed with Central Michigan and Iowa, respectively. Today we will take a look at who raised their stock at this year’s event.

LHP Trevor Olson headlines the list. Olson is a projectable lefty already up to 84 mph with his fastball and showed a feel for a changeup and curveball as well. Olson’s performance at the event earned him an invite to the PBR Future Games in Indiana.

1. Trevor Olson, LHP, Chippewa Falls, 2017
Trevor Olson6-foot-6, 198-pound, left-handed pitcher with a lanky, athletic frame. Unknown before the event to PBR, showed extremely well earning an invite to the PBR Future Games in Indiana. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a quick, loose arm action. Tall and fall online delivery with good balance throughout. Smooth rhythm with level shoulders and a square landing. Showed a feel for three pitches. Threw fastball for strikes that flashed run at 80-83 topping out at 84 mph. Curveball showed 1-7 shape at 67-70 mph for strikes. Maintained arm speed on changeup at 71-73 mph for strikes. One of the top arms in Wisconsin’s Class of 2017.
