Throughout the West Virginia high school baseball regular season we will be posting a Power 5 in each classification. Updates will be made for Class AAA on Mondays, AA on Tuesdays and A on Wednesdays. Check back frequently at PBR West Virginia to follow team and individual results from the previous week. Today we continue coverage with a look at our final AAA top 5 heading into the playoffs.

Summary:

Hurricane could not complete their in-state schedule without a loss. Number two Cabell Midland gave the Redskins something to think about, should the two teams meet in the playoffs, by beating them 13-10. The Knights scored five times in the top of the seventh to secure the win. Jake Allen was Hurricane's most consistent bat, going 6-for-10 and driving in four runs over a three game span. Logan McClure picked up a win over Huntington by giving up just one earned run over five innings of work.

Summary:

Cabell Midland went 4-0 on the week and is playing their best baseball heading into the post season. The Knights averaged over ten runs per game in their four wins. Impressive numbers were registered by Brennan Holmes (6-for-12, 6 R, 5 RBI), Easton Petitt ( 7-for-14, 6 R, 7 RBI) and Hogan Carter (9-for-14, 5 R, 6 RBI).

Summary:

St. Albans jumps back up to number three after going 4-0 on the week. A positive for the Red Dragons was seeing Jake Carr being able to return to the mound for four plus innings. Carr also contributed at the plate with a 9-for-15, 6 RBI week. Sophomore Noah Cummings continued to terrorize opposing pitching going 10-for-14 and driving in eleven runs. Fellow classmate, Ayden Hodges shutdown a quality Scott team, twirling six innings, allowing zero earned runs and striking out nine.

UNIVERSITY

Summary:

The Hawks had a somewhat uneven week.The highlight of their 3-1 record was a blowout win over number five Parkersburg South. However, that bounce back win was immediately preceded by a drubbing at the hands of unranked Hedgesville. Ross Mulhall and Kaden Matheny combined for a line of 13-for-23, 10 R, 6 RBI. Josh Gibson and Casey Smith teamed up to hurl ten plus innings without allowing an earned run. 

PARKERSBURG SOUTH

 

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Reese Fletcher, 1B/RHP, #42 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings

Summary:

Parkersburg South went 1-1 in in-state games. The Patriots soundly defeated Ravenswood and were, in turn, handled easily by University. Reese Fletcher was 3-for-7 with a homerun and five RBI. Todd Burner registered a 3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI line against Ravenswood.
