4/06/21

OF Jakob Lewis (2021, Southeast Missouri State) is known more for his speed but he proved on Tuesday night he can hit for power as well. Lewis’ grand slam was the big moment in the game that put the Senators up 4-0 early but it was simply a case of the senior being on time with the barrel and getting to an 87 mph fastball on the inner half. Hitting out of the leadoff spot in the lineup, Lewis is usually the “table-setter” for the Senators offense but Tuesday he proved he can be a run producer as well. The speedy OF can track balls down well off the bat from gap to gap in CF. Lewis brings a lot in terms of different skills to the Senator lineup.

3/26/21

OF Jakob Lewis (2021, Southeast Missouri State) had the biggest swing of the night for either team offensively. Hitting at the top of the Senator order, Lewis delivered a two RBI triple into the pull side gap that gave his team the 2-0 lead in the 5th inning that proved to be the difference. With two outs and two strikes on him, Lewis spoiled a well-located breaking ball down in the zone and turned on the wheels to be able to reach 3rd base. Lewis is one of the best athletes in the ‘21 Alabama class with 6.40 (laser-timed) speed in the 60 YD. He’s been one of the top hitters in a talented Senator lineup in the first half of the season. Finished 1-3 with a triple, three RBI’s, a run scored and a walk.

6/30/20

5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic frame. At the plate, the switch hitter's 90 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Begins in an athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a leg kick before his swing. Had quick bat speed, level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels during his rounds. Base hit approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 78 mph; had quick fluid footwork, consistent hands and a fluid exchange. Showed decent accuracy. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.4. Looking for a "plus" skill, look no farther than the 6.40 60 yard dash but he has plenty of other nice attributes on the field.
