Position: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-foot-3, 190-pound long athletic frame.
Hit: (RHH) Began in a balanced tall stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Explosive bat speed. Level finish, simple flat swing. Up the middle approach.
Power: 99 mph exit velocity, average 88.81 mph. 68.99 mph bat speed average. 22.57 mph hand speed average. 3rd highest at the event.
Defense: (IF) Sure hands, rhythmic footwork, clean exchange. Fluid. Fields the ball one hand, movements laterally were athletic.
Arm: 85 mph infield velocity. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
Speed: 6.88 (60-yard).
Pitching: Advanced. Drop-and-drive delivery, decent effort. High ¾ arm angle, quick arm speed, loose arm action. Athletic balance point.
FB: T87. 85-86 mph. (Max spin 2035; Avg 1877). Very consistent accuracy, running action.
CB: 70-72 mph. Glove side command, tight action, 11/5 shape. (Max spin 1701; Avg 1550).
CH: 78-79 mph. Arm side command, fading action.
6-foot-3, 185-pound projectable frame. At the plate, Wilkins clocked an exit velocity of 97 mph. Began in a tall balanced stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a quick stride. Had efficient bat speed and upward swing plane. He Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 80 mph; showed smooth feet, and twitchy hands. Used a loose arm action and a ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.88. On the mound, used a very quick arm action and an over-the-top arm angle while showing consistent arm speed. Feel type pitcher and uses some effort. Showed athletic balance point. Has an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 83-85 mph with a max of 86 mph; showed arm side command and sinking action. Had a sharp curveball (71-72) that showed low in the zone command. His changeup (78-80) shows sinking action and arm side control.
His swing has a solid base with a quiet load that translates to a nice bat path. Creates a little lift in his swing which allows him to drive balls into the gaps. A simple, middle approach for this rising sophomore. 84 mph exit velo off a tee. Rangy infielder that made most of the plays at SS. Solid defender. Ran a 7.23 60 as well.
Jeff Wilkins (2022, SS, Pelham) 6’0 140 lbs- 7.10.18- during IF drills his glovework was impressive and his feet worked well and showed an IF velocity of 74 and ran the 60 in 7.53. Offensively, his approach at the plate was very solid from an even stance and stayed through the zone showing a short compact swing with an exit velocity of 73 mph
