10/24/20

Middlemiss was the most toolsy player at the event, with the camp lead in his 6.90 60 Yard Dash and positional velocity at 80 MPH on a windy and cold afternoon. He moves well around the outfield and projects as a toolsy outfielder with some pop. Middlemiss is an athletic outfielder with a feel for the position. Offensively, he hits hard line drives, and if he continues putting on gains at the clip that we have seen over the last year and learn to put some air under the ball, he could develop some serious tools heading into his graduate 2021 spring season. On the bump, there is potential there with some refinements to his mechanics. FB is low-80s with a three-pitch combo behind it, a downward SL (76-77), a CB (71-72) that will ba great pitch with added arm speed, and an impressive Splitter when down in the zone. Mitch is an athletic dual OF/RHP who is a must get for teams valuing athleticism and versatility in their ball program.

Middlemiss came to his first showcase with PBR last February and showed us a repeatable swing with nice rhythm and counter movement that flowed into his stride and swing smoothly. He impressed with a 95.5 mph EV and pounded 27 out of 37 swings back up the box with a 90 mph average Exit Velo on 13 swings that resulted in low line drives. Word has it he has committed to his body more seriously this offseason and with the COVID shutdown, the 6’3” two-way OF/RHP, has reportedly weighed in most recently around the 180 lbs clip. If he continues to grow into his body and improve on his tools he could emerge as one of the top athletes in the class.
