The Abbotsford Cardinal is one of the more versatile players in his class. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound speedster shows off his athleticism all over the field. He runs a 6.7 60 yard dash and uses that to his advantage in the infield with his quick feet and range, and in the outfield with his first step and ability to track down fly balls. He has a strong arm that will allow him to possibly stay at a premium position at the next level. At the dish, he has twitchy athleticism that allows him to generate hand and bat speed. He works on a line to all fields and has reached a max exit velocity of 96 mph. The senior shouldn’t be uncommitted for much longer.

One of the younger players in attendance, Kwak, showed he belonged despite the age gap. Fielding wise, he looked the part of an excellent young shortstop, with right angles to ground balls and an arm that works that would appear to have lots of Velo left to gain in future years. Swing wise, Kwak is fundamentally sound with a simple swing, a clean forward move that gets his hands into a good launch position, utilizes his lower half well, and produced good ball flight with his line drive approach. With age, experience, growth, and development, look for Kwak to be a high-end recruit a few years down the road.

As a pitcher, Kwak displayed clean mechanics and a good feel for his pitches, something you like to see from a young, developing arm. Looks effortless in his delivery, an excellent trait to have, and his arm unwinds naturally through his delivery. He drives forward well with his legs and lands slightly closed at foot strike, but it does not seem to affect his ability to get his arm through on time. Throws from a high slot, fastball runs straight, breaking ball has 11-5 movement and throws a real change-up, ten mph off his fastball. A super polished arm already, Kwak's most significant focus will be to get stronger, work on his secondary and gain velocity, all of which should come with time for 2024.
