3/20/19

Uncommitted. McCann started for Mitty keeping the Padres off time with his three pitch mix. 5IP, 1R, 1K, 3H and 4 BBs. FB was 78-80 T82 MPH and being his main weapon with the ability to cut, sink and run the ball through the zone mixing in a loose CB (68-70 MPH) and straight CHG (72-75 MPH) keeping pitches off barrels with an even mix of ground outs and fly outs. He’s a wide and thick, full medium frame that shows he’s willing to battle and create difficult AB’s with his late arm. Had one inning where he lost the command, but with the bases loaded showed his best pitches getting his lone strikeout and a flyout to end the threat.

6/1/18 - 6/3/18 @ BAWS 2018 - Physical description is as stated in earlier report. Balanced stance with slightly open front side while hands stay at back shoulder. Lofty swing with ability to lift balls into outfield. Accurate throws from across diamond and average range; slower 1st step. Heavy runner with slow feet; 5.12 Home-1st. On mound, works quickly with simple delivery with low front knee; mid-3/4 with wide arm away from body. Fastball 77-78 mph straight through zone; times where he can get angle. Curveball 71-72 mph with12/6 shape with late 2-plane action at the plate; showed feel for pitch and ability to go back to back while also having times where pitch could back up when overthrown.

3/31/18 - Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame; strong lower half showing muscular thighs and backside on high waisted, large frame. Equally strong upper half to match. 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 R. Stands tall on mound with compact delivery; simple step, turn mechanics while keeping hands at chest height. Average extension after medium leg lift with strong core extension out over front knee; delivery motion allows arm to stay back behind body with compact, quick arm speed to 3/4 delivery slot. FB has natural glove side cut late towards plate. Delivery plays this cut up, as he will fall off mound glove side. Strong command of FB to glove side with excellent angle down in zone. CB 11-to-5 shape with two level break; pitch has tight spin with some depth in break. Ability to feel spin and throw for strikes down in zone. CHG has arm side run with limited feel and control. Slows arm when throwing pitch and delivery makes it tough for pitch to get to glove side. Better for usage against LHH than RHH. Strong projectable body with versatility to work in bullpen or start. 2 QS this season for Archbishop Mitty and ability to work quickly to get three outs in viewing.

6/24-6/26/2017 - Thick strong 6-foot-1 200-pound 2-way player, fun kid to watch play, really wanted to hit so we gave him an at-bat and he hit the ball out! He's a cutter oriented pitcher but also showed a good curveball that had 12/6 action and on more than one pitch I recorded it as an above average high school curveball, he's a big young man so the better shape he's in and athleticism he can develop will go a long way for him, fielded his position well, pitched confidently with good mound presence. He's young, strong, has fun playing so who knows... easy to bet on a kid who's confident and has fun and just enough tools/talent to keep you interested.
